·Hello UG lovers 😀
These past few days, I was very excited about receiving my latest find from eBay...
I've never seen a dial like this on a Compax. It might be a very limited edition (or unique? Probably not...).
The seller's pictures were bad, but I decided to buy the watch and judge its originality in person. 😗
Here it is ! 😉
The watch is 37mm without the crown and 39.5mm with the crown.
All parts appear original to me.
The "stick" hands are silver for the hour, minute, and chronograph, and black/blued for the subdials.
The very sharp stainless steel case shows some signs of wear, but I believe the polishing to be factory original...
This is the first time I've seen such a dial. The tachy scale looks like the later '60s inner solid tachy scale, but here it's printed on the dial.
The Arabic hour numbers and minute scale are surrounded by a deep black/blued glossy color, matching the subdial hands...
The shape of the center white circle and the white subdials reminds me of a cloud in the sky. If you agree, I'd like to call this dial "nuage" (cloud). Still better than "prototype" dial, right? If you have a better idea, let me know 😀
This dial looks so futuristic for its age. There's another similar dial for a Compur, with the same serial number range, on page 173 of Sala. This is the only other one I've ever seen. Even in the archives, there's no trace of another similar dial.
Here are more pictures :
I'm definitely in love with this watch...
Last but not least, wrist shot!
Has anyone ever seen another UG with this kind of dial? I'd be really interested in seeing another one for a Tri or Aero ...
Hope you enjoyed my post. Sorry for the low-quality pictures (taken with my phone), and thanks for reading!👍
