Hello UG lovers 😀

These past few days, I was very excited about receiving my latest find from eBay...

I've never seen a dial like this on a Compax. It might be a very limited edition (or unique? Probably not...).

The seller's pictures were bad, but I decided to buy the watch and judge its originality in person. 😗

Here it is ! 😉

The watch is 37mm without the crown and 39.5mm with the crown.
All parts appear original to me.

The "stick" hands are silver for the hour, minute, and chronograph, and black/blued for the subdials.

The very sharp stainless steel case shows some signs of wear, but I believe the polishing to be factory original...

This is the first time I've seen such a dial. The tachy scale looks like the later '60s inner solid tachy scale, but here it's printed on the dial.

The Arabic hour numbers and minute scale are surrounded by a deep black/blued glossy color, matching the subdial hands...

The shape of the center white circle and the white subdials reminds me of a cloud in the sky. If you agree, I'd like to call this dial "nuage" (cloud). Still better than "prototype" dial, right? If you have a better idea, let me know 😀

This dial looks so futuristic for its age. There's another similar dial for a Compur, with the same serial number range, on page 173 of Sala. This is the only other one I've ever seen. Even in the archives, there's no trace of another similar dial.

Here are more pictures :

I'm definitely in love with this watch...

Last but not least, wrist shot!

Has anyone ever seen another UG with this kind of dial? I'd be really interested in seeing another one for a Tri or Aero ...

Hope you enjoyed my post. Sorry for the low-quality pictures (taken with my phone), and thanks for reading!👍

Very pretty!
Are you concerned about the round 3 in the hour sub dial? I always thought that was a potential issue, but then this is a pretty early piece, and I’m not as familiar with earlier dials....

Bravo! THis is spectacular.
Since you have it in hand, mind giving us a link to the ebay listing? I'd love to see how clueless it was.

And if you call it a prototype dial, I will mock you relentlessly. Nothing prototype about it.

Don't you just love the fact that German Ebay allows sellers to opt out of PayPal - seems to scare a lot of people off. Stunning watch.

Thanks, round 3 are an admitted variant with those early dial 😀

The seller has a lot of positive evals and it seems he own a shop, enough for me to accept the bank wire. While selling, I do not like to use paypal because if the buyer tells the package is empty, you are completely fυck*d ... :whipped:

Thanks, Larry. The story is quite simple...

Like every morning, I was checking eBay just after breakfast when I saw this (it already had 6 watchers even though the listing had only been online for a few minutes). The dial looked original to me at first sight...

In these cases, I immediately hit the "buy it now" button and then double-check the originality afterward... too risky to wait any longer. 😀

At first, I even thought the watch was gold based on the pictures. There were no photos of the movement, and the seller stated the watch was 35mm...

It was a bit risky, but I have no regrets. 🙄

One more thing, this isn't really my watch but my fiancée's.
I didn't have the money in my bank account at the time (spending too much on watches, you know?), so it's basically her first UG watch. 👍

Dibs registered, and thanks to everyone for your kind words. 😀
