Hey guys!
Can you help me with an opinion?
I want to get the Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Chrono in Titanium, in blue.
Is it worth the over 10k price tag?
Thanks!

That price seems very high and I didn’t realise you could buy these new still as well

I'm really just curious. I have two 2500 movement POs but couldn't tell you if they are C or D or whatever. I just think they're pretty!

The only visual tell tale sign is the date wheel, different fonts will show you what's the 'C' and what's the 'D'. Sans Serif v Serif etc. Some people had lemons with the 'C', but some people get lemons with any watch. My 'C' is really top notch, serviced once in the 11 years I've had it.

From earlier in thread, C left, D right.

Good spot, Foo. Mine is a 2500C and doesn’t have the caseback script of your 2500D. The ‘C’ simply has “Planet Ocean” and the laser etching.

Hey Virgil, these are pics of two different 'D' models from a For Sale site, and they are both identical case backs to my 'C'. If you're talking about Foo's pic on the first page of this thread with the pushers, that's a chronograph version so I assume it would be different. Unless I'm looking at the wrong pic? I thought the only difference was date wheel and nothing else.

Hi Modernism,

Thanks for the info, Chap. It looks like my C matches that D caseback. And I’m sure you’re correct re Foo’s chronograph caseback script.

By the by, how much is the D going for on that site? I couldn’t find the sales info.

Cheers,

VG

So I have seen 3 casebacks on the 2500 now. No writing just the sea-monster, planet ocean, and planet ocean professional.

VG, 3.5K and 3.3 GBP. Steep me thinks.

Foo, I've only ever seen that one case back. Mine is a 2008, and those 2 x 'D' are 2011 and 2012 and are identical to mine.
Never seen one without writing on it, not a standard one anyway, only specials. Be interested to see others on here.
The 'Professional' line I see on your chrono pic, but never seen it on the standard 2500 caseback.

In early 2016 these retailed for $10,800 but could be found brand new with full Omega warranty for 30-40% off. Now that they are discontinued I imagine the price for a New Old Stock unworn with full warranty would be higher than a used one, which could be found for under $6000. One example of a used one.

My Fellow Watch Watchers,

I’m currently researching the purchase of a used PO. I’ve come to believe I prefer the black only, 2500D, on 42mm (2201.50 I believe). I’m not a flipper and am not looking to speculate on future value increases. I just thing this mark of PO is the nicest.

I’m wondering a few things:

- Are there are any dissenting opinions amongst this learned mob?
- I’ve seen a range of prices being asked for these pieces and wonder what you believe is current fair value (box, papers, on bracelet, good condition)?

Any opinion, banter, or slander will be very much appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Aye,

VG
I don’t have one

PO LMLE. Maybe one day I’ll be able to buy one - when I’ve exhausted my list of Speedmasters.
