Can someone succinctly explain why C vs D matters for what is basically just a modified ETA movement? Older Rolex Daytonas with garbage movements are selling at insane prices, so from a value standpoint does it really matter? I'm really just curious. I have two 2500 movement POs but couldn't tell you if they are C or D or whatever. I just think they're pretty!

A friend I ride with has the XL 2500, i'm a firm believer that is the perfect proportions for the PO. It just looks extra right.

This sums it up for me. I'm lucky enough to own both the 42mm and XL versions of the 2500 - in terms of favorites, the XL just looks extra right to me as well. On the topic of D vs. C movement... my 42 is a D and my 45.5 is a C movement. I had a warranty repair on the D movement early on - was gaining 12+ seconds a day. Fine afterward, though. No issues with the C movement so far. I guess a long way of saying I, personally, wouldn't be turned away from buying based solely on a C vs. D movement. Regarding the date font, I prefer the font that is typically associated with 2500C - the numbers just seem bigger or bolder and they are a little more squared off... the '4' is evident in this way, for instance - flat on top. Personal preference though!

If i didnt have the 2254 Seamaster, i would defintely go for the 42mm 2500 in black, preferably with the 2500D movement. I think they are very well balanced size-thickness proportion.

One thing i dislike though, (and it was also one of the reasons i sold my Seamaster 300m Coax) is the caseback. I didnt like the edge of the inner ring on the caseback, it allways left an imprint on my arm, so ended up wearing it on a NATO-strap.
Not sure, if i am the only one with a sensitive skin.. 😵‍💫 😁

How on earth did you end up with 2? How far apart are the numbers?

Nice! I had a pair of POLMLE for a couple of years (#983 and #1356 NOS with stickers still on it), so that I could give one of my son for his college graduation and we'd wear them together. Instead, now our matching watches are a pair of Bond Quartz SMP from his birth year, and a pair of 3rd Gen X-33.

A year ago I traded the extra POLMLE towards a Grey Side of the Moon that my son liked more. Then he decided it was too fancy and fragile and would rather have my 3572.50 with the Mitsukoshi dial and handset plus one of my rifles. I agreed and traded the extra GSOTM last month towards a Rolex Yacht Master with grey platinum dial, which I then did a partial trade towards a Pepsi GMT II ceramic for myself 3 weeks ago.

But I'd rather have a pair of POLMLE than a pair of GSOTM.

Beauties! Now I have POLMLE envy. Anyone want to sell me one??

You are supposed to private message gippo about that, not post it out here in the wrong forum 😜

Well, my PO 2500 arrived the other day. It’s a beautiful piece and she has come with many fetching outfits.

*excuse the gratuitous toe shot.

Does it have the hologram? Ie the laser etched omega logo in a circle?

I’d expect a D to have that. I may be wrong but afaik the d was the later models and only the earlier ones had “sterile” backs with just the logo. I’d expect a d to look like this.... I might be wrong though.
