I have the same smp bond for 9 years now. Thinking to flip it to fund something else (most probably rolex explorer II, especially since i just recently bought speedy 3750). But for some reason that i cannot understand, it is that difficult to sell the smp. Maybe this is the thing that is called "sing to me"- kind of moment.
So, in your case, keep both, wait for another year, and let the speedy joins your smp in the near future, while also at the same time treasuring the memory of your Mom's gift.

Im going to go way out in left field on this one. How about sell the seamaster and get a 145.005 seamaster. 321 chrono. And for around the same price. So you would kinda have a speedy/seamaster combo lol

the best thing is to try to keep both of them.

Seamaster is a better match with the Moonwatch for a 2watches collection.

I would keep the Ball. I have a 40 year old Seiko that was my father's. I would NEVER sell it. Even if it was broken.

It still works perfectly,though.

How much can you get for the Ball? If its not close to what you paid for it, then don't do it. Your mom will understand and that will fund the one you want. You can go either way. Don't keep it if it doesn't inspire joy or you don't wear it.
