Funny, I went in the opposite direction. The NTTD was my first Seamaster 300M, and while I liked the overall dimensions I just couldn't get over the super-reflective crystal which combined with the matte dial, meant I couldn't even see my $9,000 watch! I got rid of it within a week, the shortest time I've ever owned a watch. Traded it for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 and never looked back... until I realized that it made me want a 300M.
So, some months later, I relented and bought the standard steel, black wave dial model and am 100% in love! I'm not usually one for 'shiny' watches but the way the ceramic dial often catches the light is just truly lovely. I honestly think it's one of the better watches on sale today, and that's just made even better by the fair price and the fact that you can go try one on and buy it anywhere - no AD waitlist BS or purposeful supply shortages to deal with.
