It's a 25 jewel A Schlid cal. 1858. These apparently also came with some ETA's and those are designated with an "E" in the model name, which this watch doesn't have. This is a "Drew Carey Special", as the price was right. Truth be told, I bought it mostly for the bracelet, which is a work of art. There's a seller on eBay asking over $200 for these bracelets alone. I paid considerably less than that for the whole package, which also included a new Speidel lizard watchband just in case the bracelet didn't fit. The "mirror polished" finish comes from the bezel being made of a tungsten-steel alloy. Very similar to the Omega Anakins/Vaders of a few years later. No silver involved. Crystal is sapphire, so it doesn't scratch either. This was advertised as the world's first scratch proof watch case. http://www.rado.com/en/history.html It is the DiaStar 1 model mentioned in the link above. Don't think it's one of the very first ones. Maybe from mid-1960's. Thanks for all the "likes"! gatorcpa
Thanks! It was a makeshift from the bottom of my odd strap box until I found a proper NSA. I paid and arm and a leg for one, and when I got it and tried it, the watch went back on the strap.
Off to my little girls dance recital @ Brooklyn College. Doctors should prescribe these dance school recitals instead of Valium. Think I'll wear this:
