An acquaintance emailed a couple of photos of an early '55 Silver dial Airman after it arrived back from service. I got a bit misty eyed and felt a need for the '56. With all the pointless "If you were stuck on a desert island with Sue Lawley and could only have one watch." threads around I think I could honestly say this one.
Every time you post that I just sit and look at it. It must be one of the best around. Probably pointless but DIBS?
enamel, basically glass.... no rust, no peeling, no yellowing, unless somebody cracks them they simply don't age.
My grandfathers watch looks just like that! Gotta give it to the Continental Can Company. They gave nice service gifts. Unfortunately I didn't get it. Happy my cousin had it fully serviced and wears it proudly. Enjoy it.
Something clean and simple today. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the states. Be Well to those elsewhere.
Sparkle to go with the snow.. Edit: still trying to find the right strap for this one. I don't really like the one it's on now.
Most definitely! It's nice that someone in your family has his watch. Where did your grandpa work? Mine was out of St. Louis.
Getting ready for a day of parking... at the table and on the couch... and for that I am truly thankful.
