When there's a rare subway line change in your favor, and you find yourself with a half hour to kill...

Kill it you did!

oops..... many beers today..... very hot in southern Ontario...... thats my excuse and I'm sticking with it.......

54918.... if I'm reading it right...... its hard from her under the desk in the shade with my Okanagan 1516 Lager(s)

by the way....mind games with the unarmed is quite unfair!

you're out in Calgary aren't you..... a bit cooler there I hope.........

54918 is listed in Meggers and Ehrhardt as a model 1 which is (of course) a key wind, key set. It is listed as either open-faced (yours), and hunter (mine). I think I see some alien case screw marks on your case. Likely re-cased. It is listed as a Miller grade, 15-jewels, and produced some time between Feb. and Apr., 1879. I have never seen a model 1 in an open faced case, but it would be a simple conversion That's why I asked. Yours has the correct dial for a model 1 key winder originally made in an open-faced case. Nice watch.

Yes, I'm in Calgary. As of July 17, month to date, we had received 145 mms of rain, which is more than double the average rainfall for the entire month of July! That's 5.7 inches by the way. I think we can count on one hand the number of days his month when we haven't had rain.

thanks for the info!

The history of this Illinois as something of a wreck, it was bought cheap at a flea market dealer in a mangled case after which it ran well for about a year until it dropped its roller jewel. Then the watchmaker I took it to returned it in the wrong case, (though now solid silver!) hoping I wouldn't notice as he'd lost the original (did I mention VERY old watchmaker, starting to loose it a bit) I bought two other watches out of the junk box at a friends shop for the cases, the old lump now lives in one of those. I was very much disturbed to find decent movements in the other two cases, a very nice 1880s Elgin is now in the works and a Waltham Broadway which needs, obviously, a case!

rain? none, zippo, worst its been in years..... haven't mowed the lawn since the start of June. I expect it to burst into flame any minute!

So my second daughter was born this morning 😀 For the occasion I wore my grandfathers and fathers watch. But should have worn my Speedy, since my wife made me time her contractions for hours 😀

I am now seriously outnumbered
