Today I'm briefly double-dogging it (that's the term, right?) as my fantastic 2792 has gotten some golden company - a brother from another mother 😉

The difference? Well, obviously the newcomer, a 2892 is gold-capped, but it's also labelled as a Seamaster. I guess it's an age thing, as the 2892 is a '57 model and the 2792 is two years older. Also, the movement is a 284 as opposed the 283 in the older model. The difference? Well, I guess the 284 is one louder 😁

Really pleased by this one, even though it's in need of a service. I still cannot understand why these are so cheap. Reasonably modern size and design language, solid caliber, good brand. Even pretty common with black dials!

That bleeding gasket under the crystal ruined the inner bezel on one of my Flightmaster. Took me a great while to source a proper replacement. And this was many years ago.

I would take care of that problem right away if I where you, while it´s still manageable.

Problem taken care of since long. I was joking around a little. That type of bezel fading will from now on be known as the rare marturx-bezel and that is of course a part of my retirement plan.

I believe the correct term is @Mad Dog -ing it!

...Wouldn't both watches have to be wrapped up in velcro for that? Or the photo taken in an airplane cockpit/a Dunkin' Donuts? 😉

Well, changed out from the straight writing to the 3572.50. To 99.9% of the population** the two watches look identical. However 99.9% of the OF members fully appreciate the subtle differences.

** please note I have not asked my wife if she notices the differences. She thinks I'm crazy and already spend too much time and money on watches.

When I bought this one, almost 4 years ago, I had no idea that the 3572.50 had a tritium version and luminova version. I just wanted the crystal case back. So glad I ended up with the tritium. And even more happy that it ended up being the birth year of my youngest.

Here you go the Marturx-bezel. I do hope it´s utterly rare!

It´s yours for 10k USD, but you have to decide quick, it´s appreciating by the minute! 😁

All set to drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco today.

Couldn't help thinking of this Speedmaster advert from 1957 or 1958. I just read the advert's copy today and noticed that one thing you could do with the tachymetric scale is measure a worker's productivity (in widgets/hour). I can just imagine going to one of my engineer's cubicles, standing behind him/her with my Speedmaster, and clocking how long it takes to complete a particular drawing feature. 😵‍💫

Just remember, engineers are like cats. We may not look busy, but somewhere in that brain is a plan to take over the world. 😎
