If ever one might be excused for uploading an image of a day/date watch with the calendar showing an incorrect day and date, it would be with this one. My 60 year old (approx.) Gruen day date. Different in that it is a manual winder with no quick-set function on the calendar. When I decided to wear this one today, it took me 20 minutes to refresh my memory for the calendar setting procedure, and to get it set.
And after well over ten years of looking, I found someone to service this Glycine and I didn't have to send it to the horrid official Glycine service center.
Looks better than when I bought it used in 2008. Probably runs better, too. We'll see.
Sold a recently purchased AP Millenary… for a Breguet Tradition… I wish I could afford keeping both 😅. They wear great but the Breguet is just super cool! (My wrist is 7” for those wondering)
The last of a breed today, an American made Elgin, 780, B.W. Raymond. The 780 has Elgin's durabalance, a free sprung balance, and when it hit the market Patek was the only other manufacturer producing a freesprung balance. These are really nice watches and they show that even towards the end of watchmaking in America, US companies were building innovate and quality timepieces.
