A cheap Birks auction pick up that cleaned up and got a strap from the rotation. Birks is a decently faahhhnnnccy Cdn chain and you can find great deals under their vintage dials.

Great late 70s style with a grey linen dial that looks a bit like graphite.

Smooth running ETA 2789 but no manufacturer marks on this one, so I went looking (many Birks watches are branded by the maker on movement, dial or case back). And what do you know, WDYWS sold a mint version with its original Fortis crown a few years back (mine has a plain crown).

If ever one might be excused for uploading an image of a day/date watch with the calendar showing an incorrect day and date, it would be with this one. My 60 year old (approx.) Gruen day date. Different in that it is a manual winder with no quick-set function on the calendar. When I decided to wear this one today, it took me 20 minutes to refresh my memory for the calendar setting procedure, and to get it set.

It's Tuesday.

Off to pickup a watch from servicing.
And after well over ten years of looking, I found someone to service this Glycine and I didn't have to send it to the horrid official Glycine service center.

Looks better than when I bought it used in 2008. Probably runs better, too. We'll see.
