That was fun. Could have done with just a touch less plate reverb, but I'm off to find more of their stuff now.
Tonight I'm listening to 'Fakk all'....... I need some quiet time. Because last night I took 'Old Brown Speedy' for some 'Brown Sugar', at The Queen Elizabeth Stadium, in London, UK. Had a half hour set of Liam Gallagher 'growling' a few Oasis songs before 'The Stones' opened up with 'Street Fighting Man'. Liam Galager's band were so loud I had to take drastic action to avoid tinitus! It involved ripping the corners off of my Omega service pouch foam rubber, and stuffing them in my ears! I've made a bollocks of my Omega pouch, but at least my ears were protected. Anyway.......Mick, Keef and the boys were amazing. The Rollings Stones can still rock and my head is still spinning. It's more than 50 years since I saved up my pocket money and bought my first stones LP 'Out of our Heads'. I hope I get to see them again but.... "THIS COULD BE THE LAST TIME, THIS COULD BE THE LAST TIME, MAYBE THE LAST TIME, I DON'T KNOW..OH, OH NO"....
In my car this week...12 CDs worth of amazing '50s-60s live chamber and instrumental performances by the likes of Casals, Horszowksi, Serkin, Menuhin, Kempff, the Vegh Quartet, et al. Monaural but clear, rich sound (recorded by Columbia Masterworks I believe, many of these were also broadcast at the time).
Sprit Of The West... Sadly John Mann the lead singer has early onset Alzheimer's...life can be cruel...
Seekers-related thread drift getting a bit strong on "this has been bugging me" thread so posting here instead.
As a complete contrast to most of my posts in this thread, here is something from Pentangle. From the days when musicians would actually master their instruments and singers could hold a tune without post-production trickery. If this is your sort of thing, a trawl of YouTube will find you plenty more
