Obligatory after the news about Andy Fraser the other day. Bass solo from Mr Big still one of few I can listen to.

Owned for forty plus years, I think..

Not really sure how this happened (though I have my suspicions) but after beer for the Italy vs Wales and Scotland vs Ireland games then a couple of medicinal Scotches during the England vs France game and vin rouge with my supper, Maria Callas seems to have slipped seamlessly to the Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Strokes "Someday"

Spoiled prep school Jeff Lynne cover band?

But, not nearly what I would have expected to hear you call out! (((Impressed))).

I'm a coward so I ain't naming names but I am more than a little impressed by some of the music you stiff watch collectors listen to. I guess you never know.

I hear or listen to bits and pieces of 400 - 600 musicians and bands each month.

If anyone is interested in American roots music or "New Grass", there are some dynamite musicians in what I feel is the most burgeoning scene.

I can recommend dozens of top artists for every style of music (except urban and rap 🤮). I don't hate all rap - I grew up in the Bronx and rap literally grew up around me. Sean Combs (puff didly) and I were schoolmates and played football together. True story: we gave him the nickname "puffy" because he was a scrawny little dude and he always walked around the locker room with his chest puffed out. So, now you know the real story...lol.

I loathe all this new auto tuned / pro tools garbage. Pure, uninspired garbage.

But, I digress.

Check this dude out (trust me, I have the best taste in music...lmao I guess everyone thinks they have the most refined taste)

Only one out of 10,000 people or so have perfect pitch. To extrapolate, perhaps only 1 out of 10,000 with perfect pitch, have true 4 octave vocal range. Any Karen Carpenter fans out there?

You can search around the youtubes if you want to explore.

Try this:

Sick mandolin / guitar work ( like otherworldly )

Any Gary Clark, Jr. fans here...hear?

He loves playing at our place #humblebrag Says it's the best sounding room in the world (he's right!)
We've (3) completely separate stages.

Btw - Dave Grohl told me he's his favorite young guitarist #obnoxiousnamedrop

Wish I could turn on the house PA recorders for this (like in the prior clips) but his manager says no no.

So so, meh, meh quality from an audience member but still worth a listen:

Australia vs England ODI Tri-Series final

Prior to that I was listening to an all time classic Detroit techno album: Aril Brikha - Deeparture In Time

Have you been to DEMF? I left 20% of my brain at a 6 hour Plasticman one-off festival warehouse set around 8/9 years ago and I've been sending letters to Michigan to please return it but no luck.

This was right before Hawtin disappeared to Berlin...

Maybe he took my brain?

I've been listening to a lot of Fleetwood Mac lately..

😀 "Rumours" is by far the most expensive album ever made. Some ridiculous budget of over 2.5 million bucks (1976 money). Roughly 25% of the budget went to pay for the obscene amounts of cocaine everyone was doing and that's no exaggeration. Stevie Nicks was doing so much blow that it was beginning to have a terrible impact on her voice. So, Mick Fleetwood offered to "boof" for Stevie. For those not familiar: boofing is the practice of blowing powdered cocaine into a persons rectum with a straw.

It's a wonder any of them survived. Great album - Laurel Canyon immortal.

I just showed Ms JimInOz those clips. 🥰

If that's anything like the music at your venue, I'm pretty sure she's locked in NYC as a bucket list item.

Before I met her I was a Classical(LvB etc)/Deep Purple/Pink Floyd/U2 etc.

She took me to a folk festival one year early on in our relationship and at one concert, we had front row seats (I mean three feet from the stage that was about three foot high) and I listened to Eric Bibb for about an hour(he was close enough to spit on! not that I would.. )

Needless to say I regret all of my life that wasn't exposed to that genre (jonra).
