Came across this as I was listening to Pavarotti I think because perfection was mentioned in the comments so often.
I never played drums seriously but I played with numerous drummers, I noticed something, you can hear every note buddy rich plays, I don’t know if it is perfection but damn what a fine drummer. Apparently he wasn’t supposed to play a solo here, he was supposed to count off four beats for the band, doesn’t look like it was showing off, looks old like Rich was overcome.

I believe this was Keith moon's last performance: The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again (Shepperton Studios / 1978)

I saw them over twenty years later and tbh the two main players (all due respect to entwhistle who was my favorite) still had about the same energy on stage.

An interesting story, Keith Moon apparently approached the Beatles about leaving the Who and joining them. Probably mid to late sixties I guess. I forget the year but it was mentioned in the story. Harrison, Lennon and McCartney apparently looked at him a little crazy but took it in stride knowing his personality. You wouldn’t want to change the line up of the Beatles at that time but it might have been interesting hearing abbey road with moon playing.
Yes unrelated to ringos solo on abbey road

Wow, can you imagine, that would be completely off the wall.. It would add a completely different dynamic to their work.
Ringo was/is a very competent drummer, but he was certainly no Keith Moon, actually saying that no one could be a Keith Moon..
I'm pretty certain they were really good friends, or should I say really good drinking buddies..

One of my favorite Rock and Roll drummers of that era was Mitch Mitchell, watching live recordings and especially on some of the bootleg Experience jams he was something else. John Entwistle was an incredible musician and watching and listening to isolated tracks of him is something really special.

I was lucky enough to meet Richie several times, he was probably one of the loveliest people I've ever met:

This was filmed in Manchester in the 60s, it's a completely ridiculous concept, but it's genius:
