Open box, support contents, tip up box to pour out accumulated Radon

Pour it out where? Coffee cup?

ok. back to my first comment: send it over for disposal. include a small fee for the process.

Is toe cancer a thing?

If your coffee cup has a hole in it when you pour the radon in, and it drops and seeps through the top of your canvas sneaker, then yes, serious cause for concern,

Radon, as I understand it, dissipates readily in the ambient air. So just don’t put you face right over the box when you open it, and breathe in deeply like you’re taking a hit off of a joint. Momentarily hold your breath, open the box, take a step back and consult your cell phone to make the anti-terrorists less suspicious, laugh a couple of times for added effect, put your phone in your pocket, return to the box, and you will be fine. And with no police record to follow...

this is very Jason Bourne

Other than this prehensile tail that I'm growing I've never had a problem one out of the radium watches here.

Radium decays into lead, and lead blocks radium, so give it a few weeks for this process to happen in your WatchBox and all will be fine.

And hey, has anyone taken a Geiger counter into a bank vault to see how many watches are being stored there?

So you would be breathing in microscopic lead dust every time you open the watch box is what you are saying... Radium watches just don't seem worth it the more I read about it.

Something fishy about this. Like maybe a <200 member who wants to sell a watch by getting people to offer to take it off his hands?

...Although the risk might be incredibly tiny, I feel like the experience of wearing and owning this watch will forever be tarnished by knowing that I'm wearing something that's a potential health hazard. ...

This is purely an emotional question for the OP and no amount of science or reason will matter. He is saying "I'm not sure", but he has obviously already decided.

For other, more rational people, there are numerous threads where this has been seriously discussed, with real-world radon and Geiger measurements, both here and on WUS vintage forum. I'm not going to take the time to repost lengthy posts again and again. Just search.

I hope you don’t put your phone to your ear when you answer it. 😒 The phone manufacturer’s have been burying shit about how bad that is for you for years 😗
