Why isn't my cal 344 in the Omega database?

Hello,
This is a pretty recent acquisition of mine. I tried to find it in the Omega database, but couldn't find anything. Actually, even by googling I couldn't find any info on 2662-1 (I had to push the trigger with just a movement shot, as the seller didn't provide one of the inside of the caseback). I did find a cal 344 with the case number 2663 though. I've heard that there are some quirks in the Omega database, so could this just be one of those? In otherwise it seems legit to me, nice waffle dial and overall good condition.

I'm sorry for the bad dial shot, I suppose my phone camera has a hard time focussing on the waffle dial. Or is it just me being a bad photographer...?

Thanks for any input!

When your records consisted of large numbers of ledgers dating back to the 1850s or before, one ledger might be accidentally damaged or lost. If that ledger contained your reference, they have nothing for you.

Now that I had a closer look, there's actually a detail that bothers me more. What's going on with the 6 o'clock marker and the second hand? Has the marker been cut shorter to accommodate the second hand? What's going on here, was the second hand originally shorter than it is now? Or am I imaging things?

Beside that, from the circle drawn on the dial it's possible to see that the second hand has been touching the dial at some stage.

If the second hand is about the same length as those cross-hairs, it is more likely than not to be of approximately the right length. This also implies that the 6 marker is more likely than not to be original. That circle made by the tip is likely incompetence by someone who serviced it in the past.

Other than the dial having been cleaned at some point in its life, I don't see anything wrong?

I could well believe that a smaller 6 o'clock marker was standard.

Swiss Made is written across the 6:00 marker? Maybe it鈥檚 distortion from the crystal?

Well, it's not that it smaller, it's as if it had been cut - in other examples I've managed to find the 6 o'clock marker is smaller but also different, or absent. It's exactly the same marker as the other ones, just as if truncated.

But since the SkunkPrince makes the good point that the second-hand length is correct, and since the 6 o'clock is in all other respects exactly the same as the other markers, perhaps I'm just imagining things.

Here's another picture, maybe it's better.

Yes, I noticed the same! I guess so.

Is there a minute marker printed on top of the 6 o'clock applied marker? Or is that just an illusion?

Yes, that picture is much more better and it certainly looks cut to me! Especially since it was cut on an angle.

If you do not own this, don't buy it. Edited: Oh well.

Well, I bought it based on pretty bad dial shots. I still think the case and movement is pretty ok, but the more I look at the dial, the less I like it.
