Late to the game on this topic, but with Instagram and other online platforms I think a lot are being sold without hitting forums and for sale sections. I can't tell you how many watches I've sold by just putting up a picture or two on my instagram. Most of the time I don't even put #forsale or a price and I have collectors reach out from around the world. It's making it a lot harder to find pieces, but easier to sell

Well Max... nice to hear your point of view mate!馃憤........

Well of course I highly value the resourse of speedmaster 101 but I think the writers of the Moonwatch Only Book should know something too and they state that the 145.012 went to the moon.馃憤

Furthermore I think the speedmaster101 prices reflect sales. These days everybody thinks the watches should cost what is in the tables but I think that鈥檚 rather conservative. No wonder you can鈥檛 find a decent 145.012 these days! If there are no sales the prices on speedmaster 101 can鈥檛 be updated.......

There are a couple of really annoying Instagram gnats who constantly reach out every time I post my 105.003 and now, my recently acquired 105.012. No pleasantries, just "For sale?" or often just, "Sale?"

O man it's brutal! There was a thread going on TRF under the vintage section for awhile about a dealer who asked every person who posted every nice vintage watch they owned anywhere if it was for sale. Sucks 馃う

I can do posh when I have to @mr_yossarian.馃榿 I just really like the dial and the indices on that Seamaster.

The other thing is that, since my Mum passed away in December, I have been visiting family members here in England, who have one or two pictures of my Dad wearing his Omega Seamaster in the 1960's and 1970's. I am beginning to realise that he wasn't just a 'Speedmaster man', he was an 'Omega man'.馃榾

It sounds very spontaneous but how do you maintain the kind of protection that we have on Omega Forums?

You mean selling?
Bank wire and always buy the seller.
Never never PayPal unless it鈥檚 someone I鈥檝e created a good relationship with or they have steller references and or have dealt with a buddy.
The community is small so everyone knows each other or knows someone who know someone for the most part

Hi

Interesting thread....Perhaps the reverse of these stats is required....what about volume & frequency of WTB's ?

and on the subject of 145.012's becoming the latest hottest & most undervalued 321 , this one from a most respected & trusted member hardly flew:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-145-012-67-extract-and-service-拢6250.65739/

Question is why ? 馃嵖

Happy Easter !

Best - Neil

Hi All,

I have been keeping an eye on the private watch listing and have noticed that only one vintage speedmaster has been listed for sale so far in 2018.

I understand previous listings do not necessarily predict what future listing may be but a quick scan showed:

Oct 2017.......16
Sept 2017.....10

April 2017.....12
March 2017...7

I would be interested see whether if any other forum members have noticed this?

But that may depend on the intention of those who are holding on to the 'good ones' at the moment, and providing the subject material for this thead. 馃槙

GOOD SCENARIO: If the motive is to get them all out next year... for a big 2019 "you show me your 105.012 and I'll show you mine" celebration, that will be lovely.

BUT!

BAD SCENARIO: What if a number of owners have the same idea??? 馃槙 "I'll hang onto it until next year and then offer it for sale in 2019"! Flooding the market with vintage Speedmaster.

I suppose how 'that scenario' would effect prices, would depend on the quality of those examples coming out of the cupboards.
It appears that there always ought to be a market for good quality, Vintage, Omega Speedmasters. Even when you take into consideration the 'hiked' prices on Chrono24, the price range for a 105.012, on that particular market place, is massive. 24 watches between $10k and $21k. More than double! Well in excess of the Speedmaster101 margin between good and collector which is, currently, $9200 to $16000

Whatever happens, I'm pretty sure that, in the next 12 months, exclusively on this forum, 'the odd', correct, vintage, family owned, expertly , sympathetically, serviced, unpolished, 321, pre-moon, Omega Speedmaster will be offered to you lovely chaps at some point!馃槈

... that's my familiy of caliber 321 Speedmaster ...

You can looking at me as long as you want. I have never sold a watch in my life!
I have my own highly qualified swiss watchmaker, I don't need any help and unqualified remarks. We are talking about Swiss precision quality and not about business.
