Everyone always talking about SS Rolex mentioning Subs and GMT's.
What about the dang Explorer II?
I feel like that is the read-headed stepchild in the SS lineup, even the Milgauss has more hype.

Me, Personally, @RazorFrazer, am planning on getting a "GMT" next and I want it to be a polar dial 16550 or 16570.
But by the time I'm ready to buy one I bet everyone will be wanting one by then...but hopefully not.
That would be my suggestion. I think it would be a good buy as long as you plan to hold on to it for a bit.

I was really into the 16570 a few years ago but the prices went up so much recently I stopped looking at them. They basically doubled in 3 years.

I don't see me getting a rolex any time soon. I sort of went in a different direction with my collection and I'm okay with that.

Hey guys! Heres my collection so far. Wondering where I should go from here...
Cheers!

Nothing wrong with stepping up your ocean activities game. SKX is killer, but you might get called into a meeting or something...:

Exactly!
I sort of wish I had bought one instead of my Speedy...but I couldn't pass on the Speedy when the time came hah.
Same reason I should have bought my air cooled 911 15 years ago...

You can still get a tritium 14060 sub for fairly reasonable prices. I bought one recently and am happy with it. I feel like it’s a good bridge between vintage and modern.

Nothing wrong with being suddenly pulled into a meeting with an SKX, IMO. Shows the others that you’re a fun guy.

My first watch ever was a SMP 2254.50 . Sometimes I want to re-buy it but yeah a quality diver would be awesome ! I think that new bond diver is a 10/10 watch for me but that price tag is about 2x more than I would want to pay for it.
Well there's alternatives that won't cost you the "Bond premium." If you want to go full military vintage sub 300, CWC has some nice models.

I havent looked too much into Doxa's, a gold breitling could be really sweet ! What does something like that go for ? Any suggestions as for dial configurations as you have obviously put some thought into it
Here's a search for gold or two-tone navitmers below 5k on Chrono24. You can see there's a some of variety in terms of dials, ranging from all white, to all black, with regular and reverse panda options in between. Personally I really like the new all-white navitimer 1, and the two-tone D30022, with gold sub dials. You can dress that watch up and down perfectly.

A gmt does seem to be a good idea. I could of easily went with a Nomos Zurich Weltziet instead of the Metro but to me I don't think a GMT function is something that I would actually use ? My favourite complications so far have been a diving bezel and chronograph. That being said , I would love a gold or two tone rootbeer GMT.
I certainly don't travel as much for work anymore as I used to, but I like the feeling of being a man of the world that wearing a GMT gives me. To be sure: the Nomos Welt Zeit is not a GMT, but a world timer. Those are two different complications.

Looking at your collection and now knowing your line of work, I’d suggest you add a tough field watch, and I suggest in particular a Hamilton Field Mechanical. You can either ditch or keep the Nomos, that’s up to you, but I’ll bet you’ll never wear it.

You need one of these:

You could always go vintage with something a bit quirky and totally different like this:

Well, I’ve been on an IWC kick lately so this might be a biased suggestion. But I honestly can’t think of any other blue dial pilots watch at the moment.

as i read through this, when the subject of a pilot watch came up, this one came to mind

nice collection; don't give up on the Nomos, you will find a need for a dress watch and suddenly "it works".

if I was digging ditches, this is the one i'd go for

I love most of the Nomos lineup. They are very affordable watches for what you get. The finishing is really top notch for the cost. In-house movement, too.

I gave a close friend of mine a Benrus Mil watch as a gift( the 1995 D-Day commemorative) -specifically for dirty work. He has had concrete poured on it, worked in hazmat zones and has climbed cranes wearing it-just scrubbed it in the sink and good as new. I stick with field watches for field work. The right tool for the right job.
