Where do I go from here ?

Hey guys! Heres my collection so far. Wondering where I should go from here ? Maybe into vintage watches?

All three watches were purchased brand new so I feel kind of lucky that I am the only owner!

The speedmaster is my favourite watch. I usually wear it on bracelet. The watch is damn near perfect.
Skx has a faded bezel, wear it for travel / work / swimming. Its a fun watch i really enjoy it.
Te nomos metro datum gangreserve is a new purchase. I am not sure when i would even wear it yet. The black band is almost too formal for me to wear everyday but im not sure what other straps would work wit it.

Cheers!

Nice collection. I love the look of the nomos metro and have been considering it myself.

It depends on if you prefer sport or dress watches, if size is a factor, etc. I think adding a vintage piece is a logical next step but considering you are used to the condition and reliability of new watches, dipping your toes into the vintage world can be a disappointment if you don’t do your research and buy well.
Obviously the classified’s here are the safest place to buy vintage piece IMO, and many have servicing already done- that’s what I would look for unless you have a watchmaker you trust that has access to parts for vintage watches (like an Omega parts account if you choose to go vintage Omega).

I did actually get a vintage peice its on its way ... it was a spur of the moment passion buy while all three of these i carefully planned and waiting for amazing deals. I pined over these for years and years.

I do think i prefer sport watches. After going from those two watches to the Nomos I cant seem to get used to how dainty and thin it is. Part of me wondering if it wasnt a good buy. I love the design but its sort of a hard wear, especially with a black leather strap.

Heres what i got coming!! Im actually pretty excited about it. I have a theo and harris type 1 strap i’m going to put on it

Try the Nomos on an oxblood or dark red strap- it should make that red second hand pop and change the character of the watch.
That gold Seiko is the opposite of sport watch, and am guessing it will be small in comparison to even the Nomos, so am curious about how you will take to it.

I am interested too.

Its actually 38mm so it should be comparible in size.

I am actually thinking of getting an aged moss green strap to match the mint and seafoam green on the watch. Red strap might be a bit too much!

Nice collection. Dress, chronograph, diver, and now vintage. Very varied and I see a lot of different personalities on there.

A pilot watch with a blue dial would probably make a good addition at some point, since you seem to prefer 40mm and above.

Oxblood should be somewhere between dark red and dark brown, nowhere near the red that is michael jackson’s thriller jacket. I think it works with white dials quite well.

You are uncomfortable with the Nomos. Too dressy. That tells me you are a sports watch guy. Two directions ...Pre-Owned Rolex sports watches like a GMT or Submariner, or vintage SS chronographs. Fair warning you need to be super careful and do your research when getting into vintage.

Better start saving !

I plan on just enjoying these four for a long time before another watch. That could be a great attainable goal for down the line.

that does look amazing on that tangente. The dial is really odd on the metro though, I find the dial clashes with browns a lot. It would match the seconds hand and empty power reserve indicator though... maybe Its something I could try !

Well, I’ve been on an IWC kick lately so this might be a biased suggestion. But I honestly can’t think of any other blue dial pilots watch at the moment.

Your Nomos let me think you might like the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope with the steel mesh bracelet.

Three directions that would make sense to me, @RazorFrazer, given your current collection:

- expand the variety in your collection, for instance by adding a GMT. You can go big with Rolex, but also a little more accessible with a Tudor BB GMT, a Seamaster GMT (both the black and white dial are sleepers!), grand Seiko or something more out-there like the Zodiac Aerospace GMT.
- add depth to your collection by adding a true, high-quality diver. You’re pretty well set for a dress watch and a chronograph, but the SKX is more of a daily beater for you it seems. Maybe consider a Doxa sub, or a seamaster 300?
- add more variety in metal to your collection, and consider a gold or two-tone watch. Anyone can pull off a Breitling navitimer in gold, without it being overtly flashy.

anyway, my five cents. Hope this helps!

Great suggestions my friend!

I did actually add a gold watch, I did list it in the comments above. It a "gold cap" so not a true gold watch but I'm going to love it (I hope, its en route ).

My first watch ever was a SMP 2254.50 . Sometimes I want to re-buy it but yeah a quality diver would be awesome ! I think that new bond diver is a 10/10 watch for me but that price tag is about 2x more than I would want to pay for it.

I havent looked too much into Doxa's, a gold breitling could be really sweet ! What does something like that go for ? Any suggestions as for dial configurations as you have obviously put some thought into it ?

A gmt does seem to be a good idea. I could of easily went with a Nomos Zurich Weltziet instead of the Metro but to me I don't think a GMT function is something that I would actually use ? My favourite complications so far have been a diving bezel and chronograph. That being said , I would love a gold or two tone rootbeer GMT.

I honestly have no idea where to go since I added these last two watches very quickly.

Everyone always talking about SS Rolex mentioning Subs and GMT's.
What about the dang Explorer II?
I feel like that is the read-headed stepchild in the SS lineup, even the Milgauss has more hype.

Me, Personally, @RazorFrazer, am planning on getting a "GMT" next and I want it to be a polar dial 16550 or 16570.
But by the time I'm ready to buy one I bet everyone will be wanting one by then...but hopefully not.
That would be my suggestion. I think it would be a good buy as long as you plan to hold on to it for a bit.
