C24 follows up scrupulously to determine the actual selling price, as it impacts their bottom line.(they get 6.5 percent) No seller would report the selling price as higher than listed, unless they are the guy who pays extra income tax "just because." I am still trying to understand why it's so difficult to accept that the AP can now sell for 25k or more while that watch with a cartoon dog sold at retail for too much and has continued to plow upward since its introduction. Is it the canvas strap that adds the value? At least the AP comes with the red donut, tool kit, bracelet, and white straps to boost its value and appeal. How about giving the AP a break and accepting that the market is what the market is? Or wait...could it be a HOAX. I have an "unbiased," albeit super close friend in Sarasota, FL, who I can hire to look into the matter, and after a painfully clumsy and clownish audit of watch geeks, will write a report that supports whatever buffoonish theory I pay him to write.

For some time now the only way how to buy the watch through C24 means that you pay through C24. No other option whatsoever. Which means they now exactly what are the real money people pay for these hyped watches (and for others as well).

Cool idea, hire that guy 😁

Not exactly accurate. They still pop up for sale in other places.

So let me see if I understand your market theory: c24 Is the only source, so they conspire to set the prices artificially high? And buyers buy them just because of the monopoly? (Which doesn’t exist)

I agree that 40k is not market value, but it’s tough to argue against what buyers are paying.

I think what he is saying is: due to the nature of transacting on C24…their market values are based on actual transactions between 2 people (where c24 act as escrow re the actual money that flows). No one said anything about the entire market, as not everyone uses C24, only a portion of the market. Certainly when it comes to large value items sellers will try and not go through an intermediary due to what you yourself said :

the guy who pays extra income tax "just because."

-> nobody is that guy. There have also been people in this thread who know of transactions nowhere near the C24 market values (but closer to the current big asks). Also, not a lot of current sales listings to go through…but found another (watch only, no set):

Thanks Eugene, that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. I replied to your initial post with screenshot from C24 and what I’m saying is that estimation published on C24 is based on transactions made through C24 which means it’s pretty accurate.

I wouldn’t dare to judge the entire market whatsoever. I’m just saying that what you see as estimated price on C24 is price that people are actually willing to pay.

It’s amazing how many of these have been separated from their red aluminium cases, someone must have a dozen of them in his closet at this point.

What i dont understand is why would they design extremely legible chronograph registers and hands, but make the hour markers almost invisible? 🤨 is there a point i am missing? 😕

I think its a handsome watch nevertheless.

The glow when it’s charged! It’s still way more legible than this…which I absolutely love…and would love to own…

I get it, nothing wrong with the watch you posted, since it was probably designed with a different intention in mind.
I always thought speedmaster was more of a tool watch, built for purpose. Even more so special editions build for NASA. Therefore the design choice is not very clear to me.

Maybe if they fauxtina’d it like they did with tritium back in the day it would be more to your liking 😀

I've had the AP for about 12 yrs, and I tend to agree that its shortcoming is indices that are difficult to see in regular light. It doesn't make me like it less, but they sacrificed some function for the look. Course, if I were just using watches for telling time, I wouldn't be paying these numbskull prices. I'd just use my phone.

Hi guys,
what should be a realistic price for a NOS Alaska Project at the moment?
