redial!

I actually think that one’s legit. I missed the opportunity to buy this one recently, it’s so old that it’s fossilized - it even says so on the dial!

Likely the oldest piece in my wife’s collection….pin-set movement circa late 19th century early 20th century….wonderful enamel work….silver case by German jewelry manufacturer K&L….sold into the German market as indictated by the crown and crescent moon hallmark.

My oldest. English, sterling silver case, key wind, key set, 7-jewels, English lever with fusee, hallmarked London, 1872-73. Movement is anonymous, but the case was made by Robert John Pike, Cromwell House, Cromwell Street, Coventry, founded 1870. Roman numerals and minutes chapter ring decoration on the dial are 18-karat gold. The hands are blued steel, original, and the style is called “beetle and poker”. Unusual to find a 149 year old watch with matching, original hands. Particularly delicate style hands.

Oldest in my collection (not just for chronological age but also I got it when I was 13 years old) is a double cased silver fusee from 1877. The case made by John Harris of Coventry but no clue who made the movement. Sadly it was running when I got it but my prying 13 year old fingers couldn’t help but want to see how it worked and I broke the chain.

Anyone know someone in the states who loves working on fusee movements?

Just arrived, wanna get a low dome crystal and new strap any ideas? I’m thinking black pigskin or equivalent in texture. Was also thinking of using my GF bamboo bracelet, can you put these of fixed lugs? If so what tools what be required?

A 2639-1 from 1950 or 51 originally purchased by my grandfather. He was in the Danish resistance during WWII and up until the early 60s had some crates full of weapons hidden in the attic. The woman he married after my grandmother died told him to toss the stuff so down it went in a nearby bog. Wonder which one… 🙄

My oldest is this Jos. Johnson of Liverpool pair cased Pocketwatch dating to 1849 if I'm reading the hallmarks correctly.

Engraving of the movement is quite spectacular!
