There are several us that live in San Diego. Beer is on me when you get here.
There's definitely no shortage of that here. It seems like there is a microbrewery on every corner here馃憤

The crispy white ceramic Daytona.

But while I'm beefing up my funds (and waiting on the list) for this one, the funky 1675 Pepsi and the classic 5513 are starting to flirt with me.

Number one on the list for 2017 will be a 2988. Not too fussy as to which.

Contemplating letting one of these go.....but, not too sure which. Tough one.
But for sure 2998 will get the focus for '17.

Already in the works
- a Rolex Day Date 1803 white linen dial
- a 60's Seiko World Time Grey Dial

Actively in the hunt for:
- two-tone Lady Datejust
- Seiko Champion Alpinist
- IWC Yacht Club (Caliber 89 variant)

Watches I was stupid enough to let go of in 2016, and now want again:
- vintage SM300
- 36mm coax Railmaster

Watches I would seriously consider if the opportunity presented itself:
- tri-color vintage El Primero
- TAG Autavia
- 4-digit Daytona
- vintage Railmaster
- Rolex 5513
- a 3-hander WG Patek
- 36mm AP RO

Looking forward to it! I'll be visiting for sure at some point - was thinking about it next week, but we decided to go north and check out Portland and Seattle instead.

I think if you're heart is truly in another city it will be difficult to enjoy where you are. Friends and family do really make a difference, which is why I left Chicago in the first place...to be closer to family here in San Diego. Don't get me wrong, SD is nice (although the weather has been feeling more life SF lately) but if my family lived in Alaska I would probably end up moving there in the end. If you do end up moving to SD, let me know if you have any questions I'd be more than happy to help.

Well, I do of course miss my family and friends, and would no matter where I was as you suggest. But what I really miss is the culture, the food, the knowledge that anything I want is just a subway ride away, any time of day. I miss being able to go out to shows (San Francisco's public transit shuts down before most of them end here), I miss being able to go out to bars with friends without having to plan out who's going to drive or how we're going to get home. I'd take the absolute worst MTA subway delay over the 45-minute / 6-mile commute I have to endure every single day.

And I miss being able to buy watches!

I think I'll get a Sinn 903 but I want to see one in person first. Reviews differ on the quality vs a navitimer.

I'm with you on the Bay Area. I've turned down many jobs that pay more but would require me to move up there. The problem is cost of living and quality of life go up and down respectively and the trade offs are not there. I live in Newport Beach and when cost of living is higher in not so nice areas of San Jose that's saying a lot. I'm from there originally and like the area but BART shutting down at midnight is ridiculous, and a deal breaker.

Ah, I see, unfortunately the subway system is probably no better here in SD as I have to drive everywhere. Traffic can be brutal here as well, but probably not as bad as SF. The best part of SD is you can be outdoors for almost all year round. If you want to wind down (mechanical watch reference 馃槈) just go to Torrey Pines Beach, take the short-medium hike up and walk through some untouched earth/trails that are truly unbelievable...like you're in Jurassic Park and a dinosaur is just around the corner, with the ocean in near view, simply amazing.

Seeing how ridiculously bad I am at restraining myself, I have no intention of setting any particular goals for next year. This week I've bought three watches. None of which I had intended to buy the day before seeing them for sale. AND I missed out on two others I HAD intended to buy! One of which ended up being an absolute steal for the lucky buyer, who apparently didn't have an annoying smartphone to navigate during the auction 馃檨 馃う

Next year: "Everything that moves". That's it.

I would like to get my first vintage piece. Most likely a gold seamaster dress watch, been put off as it seems like a mine field of re-done dials and similar issues. Pretty much why I am here to learn and take my time buying a keeper.

2 days to go till I can open my new Speedmaster so that will keep me happy hopefully for the future in regards to modern watches.
