I had a quick look for an SKX009 a month or so ago and was shocked at how much the prices had gone up since I bought my 007 in 2018.

what was the actual end date of production?
About a year and a 1/2 ago... No one is really sure.

Long ISland watches confirmed it in August of last year, but rumors had been around for a while. Long island only confirmed if when they tried to order another batch and was told it was discontinued.

Mine is from March of 2019, and was one of the last in stock in the US. I have not seen a later serial number than mine.

Such a Shame loved the SKX013 and do enjoy the looks of it’s replacement. It’s replacement is too expensive, doesn’t back up the price, worse than the SKX in terms of durability and water resistance, and too big. For me it’s a no brainer and I picked up another Vostok Amphibia and stuck my mint SKX013 in my watch box for safe keeping.

The oris 65 36mm is on my list, but they rarely come up in the used market. Would love one on a factory bracelet- event harder to find
They have a 16mm lug width and so make it look feminine/delicate in my opinion. With 20mm lug space it would have appealed a lot more to me. So I bought the 40mm version and it is a great watch. Flat on the wrist and it runs as precise as a COSC rated watch.👍

A 013 was the first mechanical watch I bought after researching the market, etc. and bought it due to the smaller size. I sold it here a couple of years ago after realising that it wasn't for me. The proportions are just wrong somehow. Too stocky when looking at height/diameter and with an oddly proportioned bezel in relation to the dial. Loads of better options in that size range, IMO.
I bought an 013 end of 2017 and sold it for the same reasons end of 2019. Gave it to a lady friend first but she returned it for the same reasons a while later. Auctioned it of on the bay and surprisingly got the same dollars for it as I bought it for, AU $ 240.00. Did not expect that kind of money as it was not mint after being a daily for about a year. Only shortly after selling I heard they were discontinued and understood why it sold for that amount. I still consider myself lucky for doing so well with it. 👍
It confirms my believe a mint one on the used market 'll fetch more in future.

Can you share your thoughts on options?
It’s my sons 19th birthday soon and he would like a 38-40mm diver as a present. He doesn’t like big watches so 40mm is about the max. He likes the Baltic Aquascaphe and Oris 65 but sadly these are slightly out of my price range. Looking at £300-£400 if that’s possible.
Thanks

Well, this is bit of good news 😀. Just spent a happy moment returning my rarely worn 007 & 013 to their boxes
