What should I do if I lose a watch?

My suggestion is that someone took it so that they could show a shop or seller what kind of watches you like. You might be getting a nice surprise for Christmas or an upcoming birthday.

I have ghosts who are playing tricks

Could it have been a prank? My boarding school mates and I routinely do this, though not with such valuable items. Hide the phones, charging brick, car keys, the occasional wedding ring. An ex once hid one of my pre-independence 2 Indian Anna in her sock drawer, had it not been my day turn to put away the laundry I doubt I would have ever found it, I only looked through my stuff and the common areas.
