Once you find it, I would suggest starting a new thread asking how to keep from losing it again.

It always is, because I don't keep looking for something once I've found it. 馃榾

This brilliant insight is why you earn the big bucks Al. Everyone else thought it was an old joke. 馃榿

No suggestions for finding it, and I don鈥檛 know if this helps either, but, having been reading the other thread about people getting mugged and robbed, all I鈥檒l say is, no matter how much you like it, its value, or even what it means to you sentimentally, in the end it鈥檚 only a thing.

Quite remarkable you know without a mention in his/her post it's Fred and not Janice.馃憤

Found in the clothes basket on a fishing shirt that had been taken off the line after a wash. Velcro had stuck to shirt. No clothes dryer as tropical climate and cloths dry quickly without one.

Ollie;

I'm pulling for you to find it. Those early Geneve models really speak to me. Would be gratifying to see you come back in this thread to report on the discovery. We'd all exult with you.

Let's just think positively and be expecting that in the near future.

Never lost a watch, but once, a few years back I lost a handgun for over a year. I was checking on the condition of this now 98 year old Colt as a part of routine maintenance. I opened its pouch to find a bug had somehow gotten in the safe, crawled up to the shelf, found its way into the zippered case which was zipped up tight, snuggled up to the pistol and died.

I re-cleaned both the little Colt and its pouch and then the pistol disappeared. Beat my poor brain to death trying to recall when and where I last had it then gave up on it. Well over a year later the pistol turned up inside a box of coins which is also stowed the safe. I think the bug's ghost placed it in there in order to bedevil me.

Well, a misplaced gun is a MUCH bigger headache than a lost watch 馃槻
Especially if you have little ones running around the house!

True that.

Firearms are not stored in the safe in a loaded condition, but of course there is always the: "I didn't know it was loaded" excuse and one cannot be too careful.

No little ones running around the house here and I don't think the granddaughters were in for the many months that the Colt was lost. They're in Nashville, Tennessee 865 miles away from us and due to our son's job we travel there most often.

Good job on finding the watch...perhaps a little work needed in the personal hygiene department? 馃榿

I keep my coins in the same box. I feel like I need to keep a 1908 in it now too.

Whenever my wife is going crazy trying to find something she misplaced I helpfully suggest she stop looking for it in locations where it is not, and focus on looking in the place where it is.

...and she is always very thankful for this advice...

An update to all. The watch has returned.

It is a mystery I cannot explain. I have had very few visitors over the last month, and yet the watch reappeared in the very box it disappeared from.

I cannot see how any of the people I have had would have done this, not only that but would have managed to get to the place I keep them without me realising.

So either - someone got into my house without knowing and had a change or heart, I have ghosts who are playing tricks, OR I am going insane.

I am quite concerned that its the last one of the three... and certainly I'm doubting myself now so I'm very happy I've found it, BUT feel very creeped out.

Thanks everyone for your comments the kept the positivity up!

I agree that insanity is the most likely explanation. 馃榿

Could be sleep-walking mixed with self-hypnosis.

But it still might be a good idea to sprinkle some holy water around the house.
