Based on the discussion of what happened with @Archer what is your architecture in your town? I'll share when I have more time. 😀

I live about 20 minutes away from Archer. 135 year old Victorian. Our neighbourhood has similar homes as ours - Victorians, Italianate, some smaller homes that were built in the early 60s when the big Victorians we not desirable due to their size and need for repairs.

Mix of low rise condos and various sizes of Craftsman and less complex Victorians, the latter of which are starting to go on the market as the elderly owners die and their kids don't want a big family pile.

A highly desirable detached dwelling , with great potential to extend & planning permission for a awning already in place .

In my neighborhood established 1978/79 you got 1 acre lots with 2 model choices with very limited options like mirror imaging it with the garage on the opposite end and 2 single garage doors or 1 double garage door. I know laughable ain’t it. Oh yeah also comes with a nazi like HOA.

Thankfully mine is hidden by a wall of trees, away from the HOA’s prying eyes. And if any of them are seen coming down the driveway they are immediately asked to remove themselves from the property.

It gets wet. Inner city urban area that was very low end and dumpy 20 years ago but has been rapidly gentrified so we have a bit of a weird clash going on between the newly arrived and the past residents.

Typical mix for Tokyo—high-rise “tower mansion” apartment blocks and smaller apartment complexes, single-family houses, retail shops, restaurants, and tiny factories and machine shops.

Hey same here! Our HOA requires the wheels removed from homes within one month of arrival.

Colorful "triple-deckers" are ubiquitous in my neighborhood. There are three families per building (one per level).

Since I'm familiar with property values in your area, I bet you paid about half a million for that place! Lol

Reminds me of something my mother-in-law once said about their place in South Dakota and her husband's construction habits:

"Oi! A little building here, a little building there!"

Thankfully these HOA's are not really common in Canada, aside from the typical condo board or something like that. But not common for detached homes like it seems is the case in the US...

Yes, indeed. I'm on strata council and it's the few batshit crazy owners in our two buildings who provide the headaches.

I am an architect. There is just one problem. I have the education - but have not practiced it since around 1993...
