Mrs. Mad Dog, our kid units, and I have lived on the east side of Cincinnati in the same house since 1996. Most of the houses in our neighborhood (Hyde Park) were built between about 1910 and 1920…our house was built in 1915.

Pic from several days ago from our front porch looking across the street…pay no attention to the Mad Dog action figure attempting to ride his Honda Monkey in the snow…

Our neighborhood is a very odd (and occasionally off-putting) mix of "Gives a Shit" and "Doesn't Give a Shit".

We, and a few other neighbors, give a shit...

and some do not...

Such is life in the desert I suppose.

It’s kinda sad in my area people put up the lights much later, run them for shorter times and many just didn’t even bother or took them down a day or two after Christmas. Our utility companies jacked up the rates substantial double digits and even if you don’t celebrate Christmas the lighting really adds a cheer to the area. I can’t blame them all I do is place lights on a few trees some people really make a go of it and I never really considered what it costs them, along with all the labor of making it look so nice.

At least you didn't notice me watching you through your bathroom window while you showered.

A mix of old farm houses that were moved into the town proper when the farms were lost in the depression, and some newer houses from the 50s through the 90s. Next door there is the neighborhood eye soar, and abandoned trailer house that the city won't do anything about because the owner's family has been here for city's entire life. Once she dies, maybe then they will haul it off.

Our actual house in a "Domaine" (gated community with small houses / vacation-residences) near Sainte Maxime, Provence, but we now search for something new... veeery quiet, too quiet sometimes. Maybe an old-town-appartment in addition. It s very exciting to visit the different offers...

I love to have small changes (small town vs city) in my life, we lived in Marburg, Germany before: nice city.

That's interesting because we're actually looking to purchase a home specifically in the Var department for our family get togethers in Europe. We need something modern and big enough (at least 5 bedrooms). You don't happen to have neighbors planning to sell their house by any chance?

The house-market here is enormous: you can find unique (stone-)houses on large "terrains". We know the situation (and the market) here very well. Area Les Maures (inkl. coast) to Draguignan an Brignoles.

I will send you a pm later.....

Here in Brighton we have many thousands of brick built terraced and semi-detached houses built around 1900 of which I live in one.

Nice character but very little storage. Hence swapping my collection of classic cars for a box of watches and a japanese inspired diminutive back yard

But the rest of the town is classic English Seaside - Stony beach, Pier, fish & chips, pubs and fighting.

Alot of grand Georgian squares constructed in bungaroosh - a dreadful aggregate of beach stones and lime that is a maintenance nightmare but would allow most of Brighton to be demolished with a decent firehose.

Oh and a wierd palace that one of the Georges used for his dirty weekends during the 1800's

And speaking of Christmas Merriment...

these folks definitely aren't messing around (couple blocks from our house and the thing glows like radium).
