I am only just getting into my watch photography (blame my Instagram obsession) I have been using my P20 phone for but I do also have a Canon 550d hidden away almost unused anyone able to suggest a lens for this?
Likewise i use my iphone 11 for most of my macro shots. Does it for me without the need of a bulk SLR with macro lens ..

I think the best combination is any vintage macro lens from the 70's or so, mounted on digital camera full frame camera. I used the Pentax macro takumars 100mm 50mm, and the Zeiss Makro Planar 60mm f2,8

I used the Nikon 105mm for watches and it provides the perfect level of crispiness. There are also very good lenses from various other manufacturers of course. I'd go with anything around 100mm for general shots.

The EF 100mm macro, IS or regular version. Turns into a 160mm macro on your camera, I think.

Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro is a nice inexpensive lens.

Early versions can work with sony a7 and adapter. Newer versions are a bit more expensive but still alot cheaper than brand lenses. Just an option to check out.

Some really nice shots in here of great watches. Nice thread, thanks to all for sharing.

I took this picture of my Vulcain Cricket at the Apple store using the iPhone 11 (Pro?).

- Handheld
- Store lighting
- I have some tremor
- Straight shot (no image post-processing)

I was stunned by the quality of the picture.

Hi All,

i have a Nikon d330 with a kit lenses 18-55. However that lense doesn鈥檛 focus and zoom well. Has anyone got experience with the camera and can recommend a suitable lense?

I need advice for new lens/camera also 馃榾
I now have a samsung nx30 mirrorless I bought new some years ago. This worked well for me so far,
until I tried macro..
I tried with a samsung 60mm macro lens f2.8 which I can't get good close ups with. Samsung don't make any camera or lens anymore so I'm looking for something new.

I've been looking at Sony A series with 100mm lens, but Canon is also cheaper..
Is Sony really worth it over Canon?
None of these have built in image stabilization like Pentax, so lens is more expensive to buy..

I must confess I have been considering upgrading my iPhone solely on the new camera, we enter full lockdown tomorrow so I suspect it may be some time before a visit to the Apple store.

Been shooting with Sigma's 70mm Macro f2.8 recently, and really been enjoying the sharpness.

I just got a 55mm/2.8 micro (macro) lens for my Nikon FM. The first couple of shots looked great in the viewfinder, we'll see what the film actually looks like in a couple of weeks 馃榿

Nice picture! The Sigma 70 2.8 is a lovely lens... I also use the same lens for a Leica SL2 but more often I find myself reaching for the Sigma 45mm 2.8 since it's a little more versatile for me with its close focus ability and wider field of view. I use the 70 macro more when I'm trying to get up close and in to the details.
