What hooks do you use to display pocket watches?

It actually isn't a mystery braid. It's just a straight piece of leather that is slit and then run through itself giving the appearance of a braid. Here it is off the watch.

You're welcome Dave, my dad was the one that thought me back when he bought me my first Westclox.

I don’t it shows people you mite not want to know what you got. The less people know what you got the less chances of a break in. Let’s say a plumber comes over he has a helper some times part timers to help out that’s how some wrong people find out you got something easy to take in and out if you have 10-20 pocket watches in the open. Never kept large numbers of pocket watches out just a few. Do got clocks but there a little large and hard to sell to much work for a thief. Just some thoughts on having you collection out in the wide open.

Thank you. Yours is a good point. I have a couple toy pocket watches at home (long story) and 4 real ones that were #\- $50, except one that was just south of $100. Not worth writing a heist movie about. Looking around my home I see lots of items worth more than that combined value - TV, computer, stereo etc all out in the open. So I think why the heck can’t I enjoy looking at these watches every day? But, reading some threads here on OF, and your guidance, it gives me pause. Watches are small, gold (mine not solid gold) and have an allure that may prompt an opportunist (the plumbers assistant in your example) to peek in from the kitchen to the living room and say “look at those, I’m going to grab one”, or come back later for all of them. Something to think about...

Precisely why my 120 + watches (wrist and pocket) are not on site, and (I believe) totally safe. A touch inconvenient, but c’est la vie.

Post-coffee reflection. Pocket watch keys would also look awesome in this project instead of actual pocket watches. I’ll check the bay for some, but if anyone has a few of them they would be willing to unload, please PM me.

I may have a few spares laying around. I'll look in my box of watch odds and ends and see.
