What happened to this crystal?

Congrats, looks fantastic. I can never understand the whole, I like to keep the scratches on my crystal movement. Its like a different watch once you removed the 'dendritic' patterning
To be fair, whatever was going on under this crystal was way beyond a few scuffs from daily living. When I first got my Speedmaster I would polish out even the slightest hairline scratch on the hesalite. Now I don't mind them so much. Once in awhile I'll still clean it up or if a really bad scuff/scratch gets on there I'll take care of it quickly. It's part of the charm of plexi.

yeah I don't think many could have lived with the crystal on this particular watch, but I often see people comment on Speedies for sale that have easily polish-able scratches saying to leave them as you will loose its originality.
I am of the approach that you take. If its a vintage speedy or the like with the old logo I would probably tolerate a few difficult to remove scratches rather than a new crystal though.

I almost forgot to close the loop on this. I know you’re all anxiously awaiting news! This sold on FB Marketplace in one day for $100 which I’m very happy with. And I didn’t even have to farm 200 posts! 😝 So far it’s the only thing I’ve had luck selling there.
