·Time to stink up the joint...I wear a 1990's Polar heart rate monitor. It has a loud alarm, is easy to change the time, and it's not something I worry about. I kept it after the chest strap (for the heart rate) went kaput, just for the times I needed a watch that I didn't worry about at all.
Funny , I wore this on a business trip a few weeks ago, and when I saw a guy wearing a newer Polar watch, I had to start talking about watches and fitness with him.

·OP, New Westminster guy here. Be careful and don't take a Submariner (AKA the most recognizable watch the Planet).
I carry a beater for the sketchy locals, other than that rock what you want. South America and Africa are a different kettle of fish.
