What do I need to have an accurate crown for my Ed White?

Hey guys, I'm about to purchase an old 105.003, to either complement or replace my existing modern 321 Ed White...I just couldn't resist. The only thing that is bothering me is that it happens to have a potentially older 32 tooth crown, and I have read all over the place that the crown that matches this watch is a 24 tooth flat foot crown.

Had 2 quick questions about it.
1- Do folks believe this is worth swapping, it seems like these parts are a bit difficult to source.
2- If I do want to do this, do I just need the crown and nothing more? Or does it need to be crown + tube + stem + etc. etc.

Would love your guys' expert guidance!

Whether or not it's worth swapping is entirely your choice, some people like to have all period-correct parts, other people will say that crowns are expendables. If the tube is in good condition, you probably don't need to replace it. You might or might not need a stem.

My impression from your question is that you will need a watchmaker.

24 all the way. 32 looks wrong on an Ed. That’s my take. As an owner.

To help with the discussion, here is one, although not OP's 😀 (strap width not matching, I know)

Thanks for the words of wisdom folks. Looks like I'm on the hunt for a 24 tooth crown now... if anybody has some tips and tricks on how to source, DM me!

My deepest apologies - of course pics are 100% necessary for the chain. Say hello to my new incoming. Also next to my modern version - which may be on the chopping block now... we'll see.
