Crown for 2639 with cal 265. What do I need?

I have a 2639 with cal 265. It's not an original crown so I'm searching for a NOS or if some old one shows up on sale.

I've been searching around for which crown I need. And I think it's 5,5mm diameter? But I'm not sure and I don't know what else to search for, idk if the diameter on my stem I have right now is working with a new crown, but I guess because it's working good right now.

Removing the old crown for the stem: Do I need anything else than something to hold the stem? Then just spin the old crown lose i guess?

Put on new crown: just hold the old stem again and put on the new crown? I've seen some videos where they use som gluey thing. Do I need that?

No one knows? I might take it to a watchmaker, I emailed and asked how much they wanted and they said around 50€ and that's how much just a new crown costs. I thought it would be over 100€ at a watchmaker. But if I found an old one cheap I wanna try it myself.

but as you will see, it might not give you enough information about what you are looking as there has been so many 2639 references produced that you should share some pictures of your specific watch in order to gain a little bit more traction to your post 😉 and see if other people own the same reference with its original part

Sure. But is 50-60$ a fair price at a watchmaker? Then I do that unless I find a 5,5mm which I think is needed.

I had a 2639 that I replaced the crown on. I’ll try to find the thread but here is the part number you need.

Will propably be more expensive to ship it to Europe from that site tough than to take it to a watchmaker. If it's true that the watchmaker do it for "only" around 50-60$.

It's 5,5mm?

Edit: seems to be 6mm maybe.

@nurseford25 When you did it, what did you use to remove the stem and then put it back on? Do you need anything else than just tools to remove it? I've seen videos where they use some gluey thing.

Damn what an annoying page ofrei is haha. Been searching for 15min for the right crown.

They don't seem to have it. Been looking all over the place. Found some expensive on ebay. But I guess it could be the wrong stem or something even if I order?

There is a screw that needs to be turned slightly to release the crown stem. I found a vid on YouTube that shows it but I can’t remember what it was called. There is also a thread somewhere here but again I can’t remember. I just dug around through the site and someone had a step by step guide for this specific movement.

When you buy the crown. Order a new winding stem. The current one was cut for an incorrect crown, so best to have a new one just in case it's needed. Just saves you another s/h fee

Agree. I learned this the hard way. Fortunately I was able to file the existing stem just slightly so it fit the new crown. But listen to DON and get a new stem.

Thank you for the good information everyone has contributed to this thread. Will the stem with part number 260 1106 work for a 266 movement?

I tired looking on Cousins UK for the part number, but their pdf for the 266 movement doesn’t include the winding stem.
