What constitutes as a 'fair' condition crystal?

Curious if the crack that you're describing are like this - what I've heard some call 'craze'

In some cases vintage crystals get like this. Usually they're only visible at an angle, and while I guess they are cracks, they aren't exactly impact cracks. Either way it probably should have been disclosed, but if it's an impact crack then it definitely should have been disclosed. I'm not sure what others opinions are, but 'crazing' due to age doesn't seem as heinous to me. Either way I imagine you have grounds for an "item not as described" case, but I would be less bothered and more understanding if it was like the above image.

Of course I wouldn't have to ask this question if you just showed us photos.

That depends on the country and if the seller could prove it has left his hands undamaged.
OP mentioned seller acknowledged it was cracked. Also, if you are selling on Ebay, damaged items upon reception by buyer are covered under Ebay money back guarantee.

Unless this is some uber rare reference, you can get a crystal for like 10 cents.
I didn't know that. Thanks. I might look into it if eBay decides that I am at fault. But still, why should I be the one getting it replaced when it wasn't disclosed that it is cracked? Add in watchmakers charges as well btw and I bet it goes well over "10 cents".

Thanks. No it is not crazed. I have a couple of vintage ones that have had crazed crystals so I was well aware of the phenomenon at time of purchase. It is a proper, deep, crack from 9 o clock towards the center (probably due to impact). There are some tiny scratches as well near 3 and 4 o clock. But those I am not worried about. I will share pics once I get feedback from Ebay and they close the case.

Yes, he mentioned that he isn't an expert and he overlooked that crack as a scratch. So he can't hide behind the shipping damage line. Also threw in that I should have caught it myself since he put pics up 🙄

And again, all depends on the country and its laws also concerning money back.

I did read carefully. You quoted a post that rightfully suggested it wasn't the OP's problem. OP is in the US and purchased via Ebay. Item wasn't as described and qualifies for Ebay money back guarantee. I think it is pretty clear what laws will be applicable in this particular case.

All due respect, should I repeat what I said twice already or will you read it yourself by scrolling back? I will wait till ebay decides on the case and then share any info, pics or links because I don't want anyone snooping around and doing detective work about the transaction once put in an open forum or contacting anyone about the case (seller or ebay etc). I just don't feel comfortable about that and I already said I will share link and details etc once case is done with Ebay. I only wanted to know what collectors thought about fair condition crystal and if a crack constitutes a fair condition. Pretty simple answer that should get feedback regardless of pictures (which I said I will share) so I don't understand what the problem is?

Oh I see, a cracked crystal is rather like being pregnant though I should have thought, whether a little or a lot, it is still what it is...
