A little grilling for the 4th. These are Thai-style pork skewers (Moo Ping).

And I've become a fan of doing corn on the grill.

This is the only way I do corn now. I shudder to think of all the boiled corn I suffered through as a kid.

That looks delicious!

I always grill corn without the husks(?) and serve with butter and salt and peppar. I will try them with the husks.

And since I am soooo funny: you sure your Thai is correct? Moo Ping dosnt sound like pork.

And why are you always Moping around the grill.

Pull back the husks and remove the fibers first. Much easier to do it when the cob is cold.

I don't know, but everyone in my house keeps asking. What's for dinner isn't so fun with picky wife and kids.

Went out to Han Dynasty and ordered a ton of food with another couple. My phone's camera is getting worse by the day so no pictures. Wonton soup, Dan Dan noodles, spicy garlic beef, beef with scallions, crispy rice chicken, and double cooked pork belly. ::psy::

double cooked pork belly means like 45 mins on the treadmill

Our back deck Jalapeno and hot banana pepper plants are in full production right now:

So I thought I'd make a sweet hot quick pickle with these:

Chopped up in roughly 1/4 inch thick slices:

1 cup apple cider vinegar, 2 cloves of garlic that we also grew sliced, and a tablespoon of salt:

1.5 cups of dark maple syrup - display at my local producer - this year's season was very short due to the hot weather, and the dark isn't near as dark as it normally is:

Bring it all to a boil for a couple of minutes:

Put the peppers in the jars, reduce the liquid for a couple more minutes, and fill the jars:

Really tasty, and good in the fridge for a couple of months, but it won't last that long!
