Tonight was fresh corn on the cob, garden fresh tomatoes, and fillet mignon on the grill. Even the dog got a little fillet. Happy happy happy.

My girl & I got married in Vegas during our vacation. A dear friend made a nice cake for us which we enjoyed:

We're located in Germany. But our friend made an "american" cake with lots of corn flakes and sweet decoration.

Cheers
Thomas

Amazing dinner tonight with hickory smoked prime rib, garlic mashed white sweet potatoes, garden green beans, and a roasted beet salad, served with an incredible array of 2012 Napa Cabernets.

This meal was the result of settling bets with an old friend and his wife. We hadn't seen each other in too long, so we made 5 sports bets 2 years ago and each loser had to buy a 2012 Napa Cab worth >$100 and got first pick on the next bet. Also, whoever lost 3+ bets had to buy plane tickets to visit the winner (us) to settle the bet.

Since they flew, we did the cooking. The prime rib was seared in a 500F oven for 20 minutes before going on the smoker with a little hickory wood at 225F for about 3.5 hours.

Wines are pictured in the order of most to least favorite after tasting before dinner and with dinner.

Just getting a few ingredients ready for a Vietnamese Pho. 8 hours with some beef bones after grilling the ginger, garlic and onion. Yummo, even able to get fresh made rice noodles this time. ( large Vietnamese population in Darwin from after the war that came via rickety boats )

( have I missed anything @Barking mad )

Usually have fish sauce from Phu Quoc, still have black and white pepper from there.
Slice a piece of trimmed scotch fillet
Have fresh Thai basil, chilli, coriander and limes in the garden
Will add some spring onion and fried shallots and mint
