Just getting a few ingredients ready for a Vietnamese Pho. 8 hours with some beef bones after grilling the ginger, garlic and onion. Yummo, even able to get fresh made rice noodles this time. ( large Vietnamese population in Darwin from after the war that came via rickety boats )

( have I missed anything @Barking mad )
I'm not sure I could live without pho. At this point, I am hopelessly addicted.

Deep fried in batter was always a treat way back in the fifties 馃榾 when I think on it I suspect it was fried in fat, no oils back then.

No photos, because it鈥檚 all gone!

But tonight it was Gnocchi, Butter, a little garlic, a few chilli flakes, Black Pepper and Parmesan.

So simple, 5 minutes to make and it鈥檚 chuffing awesome. Really.

Got the urge for red meat so I fried up a couple of eye of round steaks in butter and didn't bother with trimmings other than one slice of toast so I'd have more room for meat.
Picked up a couple of nice NY Strip steaks as well but these will be for tomorrow. Unless I get the urge again around mid night. Then I'll whip up some baked potatoes and green beans or peas to go with the steaks.

I remembered something a in-law liked to serve the other day. French cut green beans slow cooked with slivers of roasted ham and potatoes. Even better than i remembered it.
I take a small 1lb canned ham wrap airtight in aluminum foil and roast in the oven at 325 degrees F for at least three hours. I place a pie tin upside down on a baking sheet to partly insulate the bottom of the ham to avoid over cooking. Then after it cools it can be shaved razor thin for sandwiches or adding to various bean stews.

I also make my own cornbread with eggs , milk and plenty of melted butter added to the batter and baked in cast iron skillets. I always make two pans of corn bread, one for me and one for my best friends dog who is crazy about it. I sometimes bake three so my own dog can get her fair share.
All dogs love cornbread, and I expect the added butter makes it irresistible.

How times have changed, daughter sent me some snaps from her office night out. In my day it was a couple of pints to many and a chippie on the way home 馃榾

Haggis in filo pastry with a whisky jus, will always be a sauce in my book.

Well it has to be turkey,

Some light meal for sunday evening.

North Sea Cod , cherry tomatos, cheese. Baked for about 30 minutes, combined with mashed potatoes
