·A cheap dollar store eye glasses case works fine for storing a watch overnight on the beside table. Add a bit of cloth or paper towel to prevent the watch from moving around.
A plus is if you forget the watch in a hotel room its less likely a thief would bother with what appears to be just a pair of glasses with zero value to them.

·I had not given it much thought but I have five or six pistol sized hard cases I bought at "Big Lots" on sale for $3 each. I've been using them mainly to store old air soft prop guns and CO2 pellet pistols. They hold two pistols with room to spare.
I could easily convert one or more of these into a watch box with spaces for a dozen watches.
The cases are made with provision to add a small padlock.
