"Look more like illegal aliens to me."
There, fixed it for you. (my quote)
FWIW, I wasn't saying it was or wasn't illegals, I have no idea? I was merely correcting his terminology. I'm not PC.

The point was that some immediately assume they were "illegals" without a shred of evidence.

Son of a Bitches, the people that assumed of course.
The guys that stabbed the poor bloke with $150K watch are not very nice either. I wonder what his plan was if he actually caught them after the chase?

Ouch...from my perspective, that's quite a scary number. 1 every 2.5 to 3 years? 😲😲
I've just checked. There have actually been 10 attacks classified as terrorist acts in the Last 10 years in London. In those 10 attacks 15 people, not including the perpetrators, were killed. For a population of 9m. Overall London has well under two murders per 100,000 of the population each year.

You're safe here.

It looked like they dropped the watch though:

Am I looking at it wrong?

Video showed that an owner jumped right back to it. Not sure, what they took from the guy though.

When I am in London (or any other big cities in the Europe), I wear my SKX013, G-Shock, or Apple Watch 😀

The first assumption on this thread was that it must be “soccer hooligans” a ridiculous statement based on no facts whatsoever. No football hooligan would be seen dead in those clothes. The only people that wear clothes from the 90’s are usually Syrian, Iraqi, Afghani migrants or as the press refers to them Mediterranean looking.

I think the point that's been made, that a man was stabbed and a watch was nabbed conclusively demonstrates something "illegal" was involved. Whether it was an illegal native-born scum or an illegal foreign-born scum: stabbing and nabbing I believe are none the less illegal.

Still, it seems pretty silly to blame "illegals" for the crime.
Since all crime-committers are "illegal" by definition.

Hard enough to be a reputable dealer selling a watch like that lol - Imagine how hard it'll be for them

Soccer hooligans no doubt. Nothing surprises me anymore
I really don’t see the connection to ‘soccer hooligans’ mate. Just plain old muggers is far more likely.

I was being a little sarcastic but I’ve never been to London so I wouldn’t know. And you are correct. I live in Chicago so any place would probably be more safe. But I also know when to wear my nice watches and when not to. I’d rather not get robbed regardless if it’s Chicago (more likely shot here) or stabbed in London.
Mayfair is one of the poshest/ richest parts of London.

Yeah -- as a longtime (off-and-on Londoner), Mayfair is one place I wouldn't be too worried about sporting a nice Breguet -- actually, I'd be far more worried about banging up against another pricey watch or a scratching it on a low-hanging hedge fund than having it ripped from my wrist. Plenty of ways to lose your shirt (and your watch) in London, but strolling round Mayfair, despite the odd high-profile mugging, strikes me as pretty low on that list.

Of course, I play it safe with a JDM Seiko when I'm Thames-side...

Remember Bernie?

Same area. The only difference is that they did not use any weapon. I doubt these are the same guys or gang, but gangs operate in Mayfield since years

There's a growing number of thefts/deaths in the Capital associated with luxury timepieces.
Gangs roam these wealthy areas looking for targets, in order to be considered a target you have to grab their attention somehow. Whether that's by getting out of a 150k Lamborghini or having your solid gold tourbillon glisten in the sunlight.

Now I do sympathise with victims of watch theft but from the photos I've seen the Breguet owner was wearing short-sleeves; thus had the tourbillon on view. I'm not saying he deserved to get robbed but by not concealing the timepiece he put himself at risk of theft, he drew attention to himself.

Moral of the story is to not draw any attention to oneself in the Capital. As long as you conceal any valuables you should be fine.
