Vintage Omega Seamaster 600 (1964) - Did I do ok?

Ok folks. Thanks for the comments on my very bad redial in the Constellation.

Here’s one of my other Omegas (I have 3 altogether)

This was £220 on eBay uk plus another £108 for the bracelet.

The extensive patina suggests maybe this dial is original? “Swiss Made” seems to have almost vanished apart from “SW”...

Keeps good time so far. I don’t have movement pics.

Your honest thoughts much appreciated.

Dial is original. Crown not. Price is on the top end of the spectrum because of the mediocre condition. But hell, enjoy your watch!

Thanks. I assumed crown was not original as no Omega logo.

When you say mediocre condition do you mean the signs of age on the dial? Or other things as well?

Personally I like the patina on the dial and general signs of age such as the hands looking old but am I missing other tells that the condition is not great - the case etc?

Dial pock marked something fierce.
Case heavily polished and lugs badly rounded, gold plating worn through.
Hands badly worn and the black filling on the minute hand is missing.
Wrong BOR bracelet for this case design - should be 7 row. It is badly worn and the gold plating is worn through in spots.

Overall, the watch looks like is was run through a rock tumbler. Your opinion is what counts in the end, so if you like it - enjoy it, and wear it proudly.

Ok yes I can see that all that stuff is bad for an experienced collector.

I like the pock marked patina on watches and hands being obviously aged. So for me, at this stage, I am just happy that apart from the crown it seems original and legit.

I am looking forward to becoming more knowledgable and learning to find better vintage pieces in future.

I think the price you paid is decent. It's not a bargain, but you have a nice Omega for a fair price. Enjoy it!

You didn't pay a lot, so your enjoyment of the watch is what matters most.

Congratulations on your purchase! It's a coincidence, because I bought a very similar one last week. Word of advice from my watchmaker: replace the crown, or at least check if the size is correct. The dial in mine apparently got some water damage at the date window due to lack of sealing near the crown

Looks great that. And thanks for the advice about the crown. In the meantime I’ll definitely regard it as non water resistant!

Regard ALL vintage watches as non water resistant. ;-)
