Stumbled onto this Seamaster earlier in the week and jumped on it. Checks a lot of boxes for me - 12-3-9 crosshair dial, nice even patina, chunky case, and chronometer movement. I'm too impatient to just sit and wait for it to arrive so I thought I'd see what you all think. Here's what I know (or believe): reference 2576-14H with caliber 343 chronometre movement, original crown, original dial, lightly or unpolished case, and 14m serial no. dates this to 1950. I was initially concerned about the darker tone of "Seamaster" but after some comparisons it seemed legit. There's a couple photos below and here's a link to the album https://imgur.com/a/KVTujFB Looking forward to some honest feedback!
that looks very nice! one question/comment... from the factory would the crosshair have split the AML down the middle?
Thanks all! That's a great question to which I don't have a definite answer. More often than not they are centered but some are definitely off center from the factory. Curiously, most seem to be from the 1950s.
Thanks Bill! I picked it up for what seemed very fair to me, even considering it's likely due for a service.
Delighted (well, relieved) to see another one without "Seamaster" on the dial. For me, this is the post-war classic, bar none. Now going to have to head off to WRUW with this or it'll bug me all day!
