Is there are a resource for vintage IWC? It seems IWC is much, much harder to get into than Omega.

The top of this thread is a good place to start. But the collectors' forum (which I know is already mentioned at the top) is https://forum.iwc.com/. Searching it is a nightmare, although you may be able to come across one or two tools that have been developed unofficially to help with that.

It depends on the model line. There are excellent of resources for military watches and vintage Ingenieurs, for example.

I’m not sure on the model but congratulations and good plan of action. Enjoy

It is all good as it is. Mvmt. Service should be easy. I don't expect , that parts needed to be replaced. Polish this crystal and wear it. Kind regards. Achim

Hi, looking for an affordable 18K watch to wear so doesn’t need to be perfectly original but would like the main items (dial, movement) to be legit. Price is $1400. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

Looks legit to me but I am far from an expert.
The minute markers on the dial look correct and typeface also seems right when comparing the typeface to original examples but hard to be certain. Case might be over polished but I can live with that.

My concern is the dial looks too good for the age of the watch regardless of my research

There were variations in the vintage IWC signatures, but the one you show is too crude to be original. For comparison:

I don’t disagree but when I compare to the PSA that someone posted of all the various fonts, it’s not as clear to me that it’s an obvious redial. Would help to have a clear macro shot of the dial.

Watch in question:

a) look at the sharp contrast in the definition of the "r" in each example

b) that "PSA" is neither official, nor definitive

I would say it's relatively cheap for a reason, like the vast majority of relatively cheap things. Looks to be a redial to me and the case is quite soft. Is it serviced?

@Big_G As already stated above its a redial and the case don't look to fun either.
If you are looking for an affordable 18k watch you will get a much better example if you look at other less expensive brands, 1400USD should get you a very nice 18k Omega, Longines, Movado, Eterna, Tissot for example.

And if you are specificly looking at IWC, 1400USD will not get you a top 18k watch without luck. You will have to spend a bit more for a good untouched example.

Not disclosed but I would think not.

I’d actually prefer an Omega but just haven’t seen one I like under $2K.
