Have a similar dial on my reference 2635...

Though mine shows a bit of the gold behind the gilt dial when in the sun.

Thanks, this one hits all my happy buttons and I am very pleased with it. One of these days I will take decent photos.

A strange coincidence that we both bought our first Speedie yesterday. Mine is a Cal 861 and the serial number 32XX on the movement dates it to 1973 I believe but I have much to learn about Speedies.

It was a good day then! You sir have a beautiful first Speedy as well! Ours are only a few years apart, congratulations!! I too have much to learn. I have a respect for all vintage chronographs, but the speedy was calling to me so I bit the bullet and dove in head first!

Esteemed member Tire-comedon was kind enough to send me an extract from one of his catalogs, GF389 from 1939.

You mean you’re not so keen on the 38.5, 59-8D or 39 CHRO 1067? Shame.
