what would be an adequate demonstration of confirmation to make you change your behavior?

When actual statistically valid data are analyzed and presented. I'm sure it won't be long now, since we are in the midst of a massive experiment and data-gathering exercise.

Moderna jab #1 a month ago was the proverbial “nothingburger”. After yesterday’s jab #2, only [insert favourite analgesic here] made it possible to get through a full work day today. 1,000% worth it, just to be clear. Do it for yourself, your family, your neighbours, your community, your country, your World.

In one province here there are three vaccinated people who not only contracted Covid, but required hospitalization. Vaccines are not 100%
My Moderna vaccinated nephew, works for a big teaching hospital, just tested positive today. Asymptomatic. Masks protect everyone. In my view, vaccines probably keep you from becoming severily ill. That’s it.

No one is telling you to stay home, but you also can't expect vaccinated folks to continue mask wearing, and not going to work, school, stores or church and generally not being able to go about their lives after most people have been vaccinated.
Actually, a lot of people (admittedly none/few here on OF) are saying that immuno-compromised people should be forced to stay home so that you don't have to be mildly inconvenienced by continuing to wear a mask. If it were a different type of assault, that would be called victim-blaming. Can you imagine if I said, "well, you should just work from home and have your groceries delivered" as if all people have that choice? We're nowhere near "most people" being vaccinated, yet somehow the governor of Texas declared 20% vaccination was akin to herd immunity. Remember, masks are for THEM, not for you, so YOUR vaccination status has no bearing on it. Thus, facts being the stubborn things that they are, the responsible thing for all people to do is continue wearing a mask for the time being.

Received my second dose of Moderna. About 10 houses later it started to hit me. I could not sleep, I had the chills, muscle aches, and it was difficult to move around. The next day I slept in the bed the whole day. The day after I was fine. So I reccomend setting aside the day after your second shot for having the flu.

I heard on the news this morning that there are now 5,800 documented cases of Covid in the U.S. in fully vaccinated individuals. I'm not knocking the vaccines -- far from it as I just received my second dose of the Moderna three days ago and I will continue to wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash my hands frequently and use hand sanitizer among other measures. Just wondering what our OF members in the medical/scientific community think about the possibility of becoming infected even after being fully vaccinated and how serious the infection is likely to be in those individuals.

Fully vaccinated people became infected even in the trials. That's why the effectiveness of the vaccines were determined to be less than 100% effective.

However, to put it in perspective, with more than 75 million people fully vaccinated in the U.S. as of April 13, according to the CDC, these 5,800 breakthrough cases represent just about 0.008 percent of the vaccinated population.

Correct above, yes....this is why effectiveness less than 100%, and we must also realize the infection may be incubating at the time of vaccination, between shots where effectiveness is lower, or just days after where immunity is building.

Makes sense.

But we are doing our best, eh?

We don't know what we don't know.

Yet.

Can't recall the source but I like an expression I read... "100yrs ago most of what we knew about the world was wrong. Imagine in 100yrs what we will know was wrong about what we know now."

Yes, but with time, there becomes increasing amounts of data on issues that doesn’t make these things all equivalent.

For instances, the MMR vaccine was put into use about 50 years ago. In the decade prior to the introduction of the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) combination vaccine in the United States, it’s estimated that more than three million people were infected with the measles each year. Since MMR reached widespread use, measles cases in the country have been reduced by more than 99%. I doubt this will do a 180 degree turn in 100 years.
