I read that in the description. By how much would that detract from fair market value?
The description is incomplete. The finish is usually mirror like (not mirror as not totally reflective/shiny). This watch someone just gave it a brush finish.

I am not sure about market but having no serial no. In my opinion is an important matter for Nina and Clapton.

Thanks for your thoughts. Saving up some pennies to try and snag a good example — doesn’t have to be perfect but the serial is an important aspect. Will pass on this — I just got outbid again anyways.

Brushed off case back, rest looks fine
I have a Clapton with the same issue of no reference on the back case. Obviously people polished them off back in the day . Nice looking example.

Visible reference and serial numbers are becoming more and more valuable for all UG watches.
I tend to avoid examples that don't have any.

Now this is a watch I would like to hear OF's thoughts on:

I got outbid twice... I'm going to assume I'll be outbid again in the next 6 days ;-)
Well, it has concluded at $13,666. What do you all think about the winning price? Good price for a scrubbed serial Nina Rindt?

The replacement crown would be an issue for me. I suspect finding a replacement is very difficult.

That said, the price was modest compared to a mint and all original version and probably quite fair for what was just a slightly tired example.

Hello. I have been looking for a correct dial for my 18k rose gold Uni-Compax.
I’ve given up.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/18k-Solid-...Vintage-Watch-Cal-285-Ref-124103/113888499931

Very difficult to find nice original dials, some come up occasionally but they were for oversized models and probably luminous. Finding a regular Uni-Compax dial with applied markers is next to impossible. I sold this one awhile back on ebay all original 14k for $1650.
It sat on OF private watch sales and collectors passed on it , and it was a very nice example for the price. I wish I could have kept it, but I have over 20 examples UG.

Thanks for the response. Still getting a bit of an idea of the UG market before I commit to a higher budget in buying.

What about this Evil Clapton?

Probably worth reaching out to him directly if interested 😉

I notice he has a large number of UG boxes for sale too that are all open to offer 😲

I got a chuckle when I saw a Universal Geneva Paul router for sale on ebay recently.
Description went on to say: "Case:It has a lot of scratches and grubby. Dial:It has a lot of scratches and grubby."
Don't usually see that kind of truth in advertising on ebay!
