I think Duray is a Belgian retailer

Thank you, my friend! 馃憤

For what it鈥檚 worth, a quick search brings up these with the same signature:

Thank you again.

No pics of the movement , rust bucket perhaps
?

If I had to guess, I would say that's unlikely. I've handled several of these and had no mechanical issues whatsoever just pristine clean movements. I suppose it all depends on what caused that dial damage.

Perhaps just a seller who is not comfortable opening watch cases? But then I'm a glass half full sort of person . . .

Look at crowns, dirt and corrosion But Hopefully Not !

Look at the fact they could not get that case open thus the damage, it's probably not been opened in decades, probably serviced once in it's life.

As for the radium burn that's how these black dials go--either lumed hands and lume dots and a "tropical" i.e. radium burned dial ensues, or hollow hands and no lume dots (or round circles at 3. 6. 9. and 12) and the paint survives much better...

What draws you to it? I'd have a couple of reservations about the dial (different 2s at 2 & 12 and the way that 7 appears to impinge on the sub-dial) but, more importantly, the 128 is not a common calibre. If I was after this style then I'd hold out for something with a calibre 262 where there a many more loose movements available for spares.

I think it's more that I'm intrigued by it. The dial kept poking at my brain until I started looking closely at the font, then the texturing of the numerals themselves. It almost seems like a repair job, but from some time ago? The calibre isn't a make or break for me, though I admit I would be more tempted to bid on a 262.

It's small and tired IMO. I think the dial is OK. If you like it and stays really cheap, go for it. Probably better to spend more money and get something nicer. I would go bigger and get a 262. Come to think of it, I have a beater 262 project sitting around that needs hands and service. This is a 35mm case, much better.

your listing, for the record (always best to post pics, not just a link, which will expire.....)

Thanks for the reminder; I always forget how quick ebay is now to get rid of info/posts of expired auctions. your points are well-taken, like I said, something about it just piqued my curiosity.

I like this one, I used to have the same case in gold, super hefty. I like how far up the spring bars mount on the lugs

The applied 12 looks wonky. I think the dial printing looks ok? Nice to know if solid or plated case.
