Glad it worked out in your favor this time😀
The global shipment program has screwed me over once. Now I at least know what it means. And luckily I have some family in the states for auctions restricted to US only. But the state sale tax has become a bother.
When listing an auction with the global shipment program are you locked into it for international buyers? Or can the buyer after winning, request to not use it? What are the upsides of the program from the seller's perspective?

I bought a watch from the US with the program and I didnt have the possibility to refuse its use. However although it was a bit more expensive it worked out for me. Custom charges and fees are very high and they give a lot of trouble. I was satisfied with the program. But I have to say that it wasnt an expensive watch so... Maybe a more expensive one would make the program fees too high. Dont know what the % is.

What's silly is I did this once before a year or two ago, and forgot. With that one, I actually just ended the auction early and restarted it, using the Global Shipping Program to allow for all geographic locations bidding. That auction achieved a great price, and then the seller refused to pay because of the massive fees added by Ebay's Global Shipping Program. So my frustration with the Global Shipping Program stuck in my head, but I forgot that the bidding had gone very poorly with only domestic USA bidding allowed. What I should have done on this current auction was to allow international bidding, but NOT use the Global Shipping Program.

This is something I don't understand, when I see "eBay shipping program". Isn't simpler to discuss shipping fees with the buyer after the auction ended? You can send a new total to the bidder. I am generally speaking of course.
Personally, I tend to avoid auctions with this shipping program because of the very high total to pay.
I have friends in NY and - for example - I can ask seller to send the item over there, but with this program I just have to pay A LOT.
It's for sure simpler for the seller, but is it good for auction results?

If it's selected by the seller I don't believe the buyer can opt out. IMO there are no upsides for the seller unless it's a relatively inexpensive item, as the fees are just too high and most ppl will not pay them.

I agree it's better not to use the global shipping program and handle shipping directly with the buyer. The next issue becomes, how do you fully insure but not have high custom/duty fees. If you declare low to spare the buyer import fees, the seller is unprotected in loss or damage. I guess some ppl use parcel pro, in which case the insurance value is hidden ?

Insurance value hidden but you are still on hook for duty. Best to be upfront with buyer. If they want the watch .. they need to eat the fees.

Yes but can you declare for $200 and insure for 10k ? If so duty would be negligible

I don’t think so. That would be very stupid for a division of UPS.

I need to go through the tutorial again. When I start selling I’m going to try to make my watches available to all. I will be using PP.

The advantage of the program for the buyer is that it will bypass all custom import fees and taxes, if you ship from the US to the EU for instance. Its a matter of doing the math.

yes but basically the shipping time is the same.
moreover - I am speaking for italian buyers - I automatically have to pay 25% more because of fees.
You can understand that this item is no more convenient for me. It's a loss from my side and from seller side.

Anyone bidding on the Exotic Nina Rindt?
I think that has been discussed, the movement has a weird bridge.

Check the movement, look at “Universal Geneve” on the bridge.

“The original, heavily deteriorated dial was replaced with a Universal Geneve dial in a laboratory in Milan in 1992” 😲

Yeah...I’m gonna need the keys to that lab
