·Thank you @Larry S would you have someone you could recommend for service?
I actually reached out to the seller just to say that if anything falls through that I’m interested.
Turns out that it did, and I’m in talks about essentially stepping in the shoes of the buyer.
Any other advice from what was already said?
Well, I fired away. The seller showed me that all functions work.
He claims he purchased it from the original owner, but I think we all know that does not mean much. I believe I will be receiving the watch Thursday, as it is being sent via overnight tomorrow. Also, from what I received from the seller chrono hand was reset to zero. I will start up a thread with some pictures when received.
congrats ! I hope you are really happy with the watch, seems like a pretty good deal
Hello dear Forum members,
I am currently looking at this Compax supposedly ref. 22408 ( https://www.chrono24.com/universalgenve/crono--id10063010.htm Sorry, not on eBay...) which I consider quite a rare - and very beautiful - UG case design. I have already made a reservation on the watch... but there is still time to run away. 😀
The photos are not the best so I have some doubts. What do you think?
I have seen only one other watch of the same reference with a very similar dial (here: http://www.antik-hodinky.cz/naramkove-hodinky-se-stopkami-universal-geneve-compax-c-285 ) but althoug there are differences, some small printing errors can be found on both dials (eg. on both numeral 8 slighlty overlaps in the seconds subdial... but on each in a different way). Missing "Swiss" I do not consider a problem as it was not to my knowledge present on the earlier dials.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Looks like there was a failed attempt to clean this dial. Overall the condition isn't worth the asking price imo. I'd run.
Agree and I would never accept the block of the reference number.
