I actually reached out to the seller just to say that if anything falls through that I’m interested.

Turns out that it did, and I’m in talks about essentially stepping in the shoes of the buyer.

Any other advice from what was already said?

are you getting buyer protection? At the price already "paid" I would want full ebay protection. If you are talking something like switching over to paypal only, I would want to split the savings in fees. I am curious to see daylight shots, especially of dial and hands. I don't think any kind of lighting will make those two hands match. I don't know what that suggests, but if it were me I would probably relume the hour hand to match the minute, or if that was too fussy, just relume both.

also did the deal fall though because of shill bidding? If so, I wouldn't want to match that price.......

+1 for shill bidding. But even then, where else do you get a big Tri for $5100? Or will you lower your asking @bgrisso? 😜

Agree. At least different production batches. Same with the month disc.

LOL
I think mine is nicer. Better patina, hands, and moonphase disc. But it is the GP branding vs UG, and GP doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love around these parts? I feel like I'm already giving mine away at $7500 🤔

Well, I fired away. The seller showed me that all functions work.

He claims he purchased it from the original owner, but I think we all know that does not mean much. I believe I will be receiving the watch Thursday, as it is being sent via overnight tomorrow. Also, from what I received from the seller chrono hand was reset to zero. I will start up a thread with some pictures when received.

Hello dear Forum members,
I am currently looking at this Compax supposedly ref. 22408 ( https://www.chrono24.com/universalgenve/crono--id10063010.htm Sorry, not on eBay...) which I consider quite a rare - and very beautiful - UG case design. I have already made a reservation on the watch... but there is still time to run away. 😀
The photos are not the best so I have some doubts. What do you think?
I have seen only one other watch of the same reference with a very similar dial (here: http://www.antik-hodinky.cz/naramkove-hodinky-se-stopkami-universal-geneve-compax-c-285 ) but althoug there are differences, some small printing errors can be found on both dials (eg. on both numeral 8 slighlty overlaps in the seconds subdial... but on each in a different way). Missing "Swiss" I do not consider a problem as it was not to my knowledge present on the earlier dials.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Looks like there was a failed attempt to clean this dial. Overall the condition isn't worth the asking price imo. I'd run.

Agree and I would never accept the block of the reference number.

The seller did send me a photo of the casback with all numbers visible, that’s not an isssue. A lot of sellers (and even OF members) block the numbers, although I don’t quite understand why...
The reference is 22408, correct to the case design.
What was bothering me was the dial...
Thanks for the feedback!!!

Dial is original. But not in good health.

It looks good to me.
But I don't see the SWISS sign.

EDIT: sorry, eBay sent me on another auction 😉
