good luck ! I dont' think the missing parts are impossible to find by any means, I just would prefer to see it mentioned...........

I'm sure I have them ! I agree with what your saying, but the seller does express parts watch and shows pictures. Not totally lame.

granted, this is listed AS-IS for parts or repair, but you would think it might be worth noting, instead of just "appears to run", that major pieces of the movement are missing 馃槜

Are the hand lengths ok? The red month hand goes outside the circle whereas the date one is inside. The main hour hand also doesn't meet the numerals. Is that normal?

I see what you saying I looked at my other examples seems to vary a bit. I think the hands are correct but I could be wrong !

I haven't done a detailed analysis, but my gut sense is the hands are fine......

Is this a service dial? Caseback ser. # indicates 1945 but the dial is exactly like my late 50's Compax.

Late 50s hands and dial. If serial is 40s then it is a case of someone being a little inventive. It does not look bad at all but not a collectors piece at it has lost its originality. It is a bit like a road sweeper claiming he has a vintage 1940s broom that has has the brush replaced and the handle replace throughout its life. IS it still a vintage broom ?

As a matter of interest, did anybody have a view on this one?

I had a cheeky snipe but I obviously didn't want it enough (I did some work in Caracas a few years ago). I received some high resolution pictures from the seller and the detail was of sufficient quality for me to believe it is original.

I鈥檓 curious to what makes you think it might be original? I had a look and hesitated but the fact that it didn鈥檛 have Universal Geneve written on the dial didn鈥檛 convince me.

I'd seen the dial, or at least one like it, before. I couldn't remember where but I'm fairly sure it was in a gold case. With those gold hands and hour markers, I think it would look better in a gold case.

To be honest, I didn't give it a huge amount of consideration but I also thought the dial was original. Mainly because I've seen other UG dials with maps, typically of middle eastern countries, that were not signed.

Those are typically cloisonn茅 enamel though whereas I presume this one was just painted?
