Woops! Need to look on something other than my iPhone after only a few hours of sleep! I swear that was a GF at 4am!

dunno, never seen that cal before, doesn't seem like it would turn up often. currently priced very cheap, for nice mvmt and case, and mediocre dial, but I'm not going to jump, got enough projects these days......

I have this piece with cal. Super Microtor. Not a linen but a sunburst dial, a lovely piece imo. If you need a movement shot, hit me up.

What does everyone think of this? Expensive, but apparently the one in Sala....

Here is the blurb from the listing - I wonder how one goes about proving this Sala connection?

“This watch is the actual example used in Pietro Sala's UG book on page 303 as one of the standard bearers for this reference. Great provenance. If you want a copy of the book to go with it let me know.”

(This is where I find out that the seller is a member here and a UG nut/Sala’s grandson)

It is early here and i’m on iPhone but how do you find the UG and aerocompax prints on the dial? They look crooked...

I am slowly driving myself mad looking at this dial. It is indeed a remarkable match with the picture in Sala. It surely has to be the same watch.

If so, then perhaps we must assume the dial is beyond doubt.

If so, then perhaps we must assume the dial is correct....
That’s what I’m thinking. The seller is 20 miles from me and I have been in conversation with him. Apparently the watch was acquired 3 years ago and serviced.

He’s willing to negotiate (and chuck the book in). Assuming it is the watch, does the price look ok? I’m seriously considering although it would be a chunk of cash for my initial foray into vintage.

I hed a Zenith Compur that was published in Roesslers book from a German Collector. So guess that it is the Aero from Salas book.

Btw: awesome watch

The dial is worn in places but the watch for me is still very appealling. Regarding the price...this is, as ever, a question of worth only the beholder can truly answer.

There are many 40s Aero oracles on here much more useful than myself (not difficult). I understand this reference can show much variation and I'm not sure how this impacts asking prices. From memory @vujen has a few, for example - I'd definitely ask around OF for some more due dilligence if you wish to feel more comfortable before pulling the trigger (if you have time to do so).

This has a warm attractiveness to it but the dial worries me. It has some indications of a redial and disappearing sections of print from cleaning, misaligned printing, etc. At the same time it could also be printing quality variations normal to Universal. Another thing to note- Sala has redials featured in it, and is not a fool proof method in regards to verifying
originality.

In any case it would be worth it to handle in person if you can to get more info. Maybe some of the experts can chime in here in the meantime.

Awesome watch. The price is very tempting because of the damaged dial.
It's not "patina", some great parts are really deleted.
